KNIGHTOWL'S PROFILE

Just an aspiring game designer. I've played video games since I was little and recently have gotten to the point of 'it would be so cool if this was like this' or 'if there were more options to customize this, it would be amazing', add that on top of getting ideas for games randomly and I figured I'd try my hand at making my own.

My favorite types of games tend to be:

1. Dungeon-crawling, with an emphasis on fun battles and customization with difficulty selection.

2. Horror-type games, it was awesome to see RPG Maker even capable of making games like these.

Heyy that's fine with me I love hearing what people thought about the game and what they liked/disliked. xD

Yeah stories are not my strong point I'm just going to admit that straight out. I did the best with what I could, and tried to keep up the story while simultaniously concentrating on what I was good at, the battling and strategy-control.
Yeah the character's looks don't seem to fit their personalities at all, but I didn't have too many portraits that I preferred at the time so I just went with what I had. I guess looks can be deceiving. /my lame answer lmao
Tho I did put forth some effort to give a twist toward the end. I'm glad it didn't go unnoticed, haha.

Yeah nothing does a warrior or mages' job better then a warrior or mage. xD
Tho it seems like all the classes seem to have a good balance to them. I understand the points about the thief, though. Honestly I wanted to have the game be where you didnt feel like you were missing out and were -forced- into the theif class to not miss out on things, and instead with it, you could craft things faster. /shrug
Tho it could use some more damaging capabilities perhaps.
I'm thinking I might give the Exp plus to the beast tamer instead, but then I'd need to fill the gap in the Drive Master's list, since all other jobs have a set amount of skills, that would leave the Master one out. I'll see if I can work some things out tho. o: It's been a common thing that's asked, the Beast Tamer being able to learn something.
I feel it'd be a bit of a balance breaker somehow with it being (one of) the only things to learn on the beast master, since it would make it seem more readily available. If people got the +50% at the earliest time I'm not sure what that would do to game balance, though I'm sure Extreme could help keep it up for the majority of players I'd hope. Random food for thought.
Wow, though. 45,000 damage. XD That's the top record so far. The top damage used to be 9,999 before Dark Knight came out. Tho probably technically somewhere around 20,000+ with a triple thrust or multi-hit attack...

Yeah Babush seems to be a favorite. xD I admit when I started using him he started growing on me too. My favorite's kinda Whiskers, though. I did like the Def-Down he gives when you summon him on a boss. His damage and atk up buffs kinda play to my style. Though on harder difficulties prioritizing def would be more helpful.
I'm glad the majority of summons were useful and had time in the limelight for you though, that's awesome. xD

Thank you very much for sharing that all with me, haha. It was an awesome read! :3

The thing with Melfice (at least in my opinion) is that he doesn't really deal a lot of damage; Caelia had a lot of dangerous moves (I have a bad memory so I don't really remember the names), including being able to stun and slow 2 of your characters , the one that hits 4 times and the one that decreases your defense and all of them also deal very high damage.
Most of my characters would be 1 or 2 shot if they got hit by the defense debuff beforehand and while the stun alone was dangerous, the fact that the attack also inflicted slow made it so Kestral had to be constantly spamming Healing Wind to remove it (being slower than the boss can be really dangerous if the other 2 characters get stunned and you need to heal), since he was also my main healer with White Wind this forced my other characters to heal with items instead of attacking which decreased my DPS.
The shield that prevents stun and summoning Babush so he could buff my defenses and grant stun immunity were really helpful but still a little bit unrealiable if the RNG decided to screw me over.
Her move which inflicts status effects is harmless since all my characters were immune, amusingly you can reflect the spell back at her which will inflict Venom on her.
Her final move would drop everyone to about 1000 HP but since she can only act once in the turn she uses it as long as I kept everyone at full HP it wasn't too much trouble.

On the other hand while Melfice can act a lot of times most of his moves are pretty harmless, the only move worth mentioning is Debilitate since it forced me to waste a few turns to reapply buffs, Sacrifice was also pretty weak since I had 50% resistance against demi, I guess he can also stun you but it's nowhere as dangerous in this fight (funfact, the first time I fought him I expected him to go berserk after all of his seeds were destroyed so I only killed 2 seeds and dealt with the extra turn for the rest of the fight).

Yeah I'm kinda proud of the Caelia fight. I guess after that I had a hard time figuring out what to do with the next super boss. XD I feel like I hit the nail almost on the head for a real 'super boss' for her attacks and pattern. I'm glad to see it had a bit of an impact on you haha.
But yeah I still forgot to do something about venom immunity since that's like one of the very few times you can 'venom' something by reflecting it. Tho I might just keep it, the chance is low enough that it gives a great feeling when it does happen /shrug

Hm. Actually that might not be too bad an idea. Hint that you should destroy some seeds, but saying that destroying all of them would make him that much stronger and go berserk. Maybe add a slight buff to some moves (i already buffed sacrifice I realize it's kinda crap for how you get it. I apologize.)
Thank you for your insight! O:

Ok, I fought Melfice again and learned Sacrifice from him, the first time I simply didn't try since I thought he would be immune to taming.

Regarding the difficulty; I played through the whole game on Extreme and thought that it was okay, I had the most trouble during the first dungeon (didn't have a lot to work with) and the second and third bosses (they did too much damage so I ended up having to play defensively and just let the shaman's poison do the work for me), didn't have much trouble after that.
I did grind twice, once halfway through the game (I wanted some useful skills like half MP costs, auto HP and MP regen, 50% more healing and extra experience on everyone), and again in the postgame (since I wanted most of the passive boost skills and the status immunities).
The bosses from the moon tower were a bit too easy considering they are supposed to be fought after Caelia (whom I consider the hardest boss from the game), I think it's okay for the 4 pillar bosses since they come after two regular battles but Melfice could have been harder (maybe have him get stronger for each seed killed?)

Sorry about the confusion and extra work on your part! ^^;
I think I'll have the dog say a small hint to prevent further confusion...
As well as probably strengthen up the skill itself.

Wow, though, you really played this game. xD I'm kinda honored actually. It's great to hear about other's playthroughs, haha.

Daaang Melfice? Harder? Than on Extreme? You must be a heck of a gamer. xD
I was sorta debating on making him stronger per each helper killed or after some period of time/hp loss, but i figured that would defeat the purpose of defeating the helpers in the first place, plus I thought he was hard enough. xD
Maybe I'll add in an option to fight a harder version after beating him once or so...Have to think on how to go about it...

Sorry, my fault.
I must have been too tired.
It is Curse of Earth.

edit:
I finally finished the game.
But I must admit that I could only defeat Celia and the Moon Tower on Easy Mode.

Perhaps a Limited Level Break could be possible after defeating the Ark.
Congrats on beating the game! :3 Thanks for playing it again haha~

A limited level break? You mean like surpassing level 99? O: I could possibly look into that. I was thinking it would break the game balance since I have the whole Ethereal Corridor balanced to lvl 99 (theres a video on the media section here showing her being beaten at lvl 99) and I also balanced the moon tower boss to be beaten on extreme at lvl 99 as well but requiring a good setup. (hint; having someone in a dedicated Healer class , since it boasts good speed, for full-party healing every turn til you destroy at least one helper, after that it gets a bit easier.)
I was just thinking that a level break was unnessesary as you could buy status boosting berries to boost your stats, giving a meaning to fighting after hitting lvl 99, to buy berries and whatnot.

And yeah sorry I had some occasional instances where I was planning on some moves being learnable, changed my mind, and took off the star in the name, but forgot to take off the star in the message that's displayed when the skill is used.

Frejo;

Curse isn't learnable, but sacrifice -should- be learnable. He's the only exception to the whole 'no bosses thing', since I figured why not make another secret reward thing you can get for fighting a secret boss.
And in hindsight, yeah I kinda was probably confusing about the Tsunami/3-elemental skill scroll things. My mind was wanting the three elemental skills to be special scroll-only, where tsunami had a scroll that taught it to you as a reward for leviathan and figured I'd put it up for sale later on since it was there. But eh every game has a few things that don't make sense in them. <_>

Thank you guys for the reports though, it's most helpful! :3

You should control the special scrolls for each class:
Captain/Healer work fine, but the Shaman one is wrong. Now my characters have learned Curse of Wind with these scrolls, but it should be something else.
(I can even learn this spell again on the normal way)

I haven't controlled the others yet.

Is there a difference between Flame Burst (18 MP) and Twin Burner (30) except the MP? Both have two fire attacks and do the same damage...

When the correction of the Shaman scroll is not possible to solve with an update I can send you my safefile.

I'm not sure what went wrong with the Shaman scroll. I double checked it and it says Curse of Earth scroll with the tag that says 'learns skill: Curse of Earth'.
I'll have to test it myself and see what's going on.
Edit; Just used four myself. Gave Curse of Earth, reloaded, and tried again. So I'm not sure how that happened. xD I'm sorry it did, though.

Twin Burner was actually not supposed to be learnable. xD I fixed that.

Some more gliches (but wait with an update until I'm done or find another serious bug):
  • Before fighting the Spider Queen you are not healed.
  • The Devil foe at the village is undefeatable when refighting the Danger Hex on the upper left.
  • Some Beast Tamer Spells have no "*" and some habe a star but cannot be learned from the foes (mostly bosses after the ancient highway)

Oh well yeah I was just updating it previously because it was a major one, a sidequest couldnt be completed so figured I'd get that one out.
and because I thought I had gotten all of them after that OTL
You must like this game to be finding all this. xD

Thank you though I'll get to fixing those up O:
Oh, and the bosses one is on purpose, you can't learn beast tamer skills from bosses (also explained by Lucian) as same as you dont need to steal anything unique from them. It's to prevent having to feel like you'll miss something. You can learn what they use at a later time though, through scrolls or stronger monsters.
