Lakria Legends

Thanks for the information. I can live with that as long as the best equipment isn't permanently missable this way.

If you're sure that the Merman's Armor is dropped at all, then everything's all right, though I'm surprised how much more difficult it is to get this rare monster's drop compared to drops of rare monsters the party encountered earlier. That's why I asked for an exact percentage. It usually takes two or three battles (at most) to receive a copy of Shelldon's Shell, Golem Rock or Bagoro's Horns, yet killing around twenty Mermans didn't yield a single Merman's Armor, which indicates a drop rate in the single digits. Maybe it's time to ask if any player at all was able to get a Merman's Armor. :D

Since my party is now over level 40, I should probably and finally head into the Water Sanctuary.

Lakria Legends

I'm having a lot of fun, but I seem to have problems with regard to monster drops.

What is the Merman's Armor drop rate (Merman, bestiary entry no. 38)? I don't mind to grind for a while, and maybe I've just been unlucky so far, but I don't want to chase equipment that - for some reason - may not drop.

Another problem concerning the drops in general (or just an inconsistency limited to the bestiary): I didn't receive an Oakwood Relic from the Gazer (Arman Ruins, bestiary entry no. 17). If this is an one-time-only encounter, shouldn't the drop be guaranteed (100%)? The same applies to Squidy (no. 32, didn't drop Squidy's Blade and Pirate's Hat) and Captain Gomez (no. 43, didn't drop Ghoulish Scepter). Since I doubt there will be an opportunity to fight the bosses again later, the only way to get these drops would be to repeat boss fights just for the drops, which isn't fun. I already have to repeat boss fights in case I was too stupid to achieve a dungeon's S rank. :D

Lakria Legends

I'm currently playing Lakria Legends and it is and probably will be everything I have hoped for. :)

I won't bother you with minor improvement suggestions until I've finished the game, but I will make an exception for game-breaking bugs, of course.

Players have to stumble upon this one by accident, so it doesn't surprise me that it hasn't been found yet. On the way to Westwood Creek/Aramos Town (map where Ted and his side quest can be found), there's a treasure chest containing a Speed Up. Directly south of this treasure chest, the player can jump off the cliff (landing at the beginning of the map near the crack in the wall), but by doing this, the passage under the bridge becomes permanently impassable, (theoretically) making it impossible to complete the game - unless the player uses the ladder on the same map one more time, which I just found out after I had already written this wall of text. :D

I have a rough understanding of why using the ladder makes it possible again to walk along under the bridge, but the player shouldn't be bothered with an unconvenient solution like this. It's just a small oversight, though, and I will report similar locations if I come across them.

I absolutely agree with you, LordBlueRouge. It isn't only about playing good JRPGs, it's also about being a scholar discovering and studying an almost forgotten period. Thank you very much for the converted version of Utopian Chaos - I will gladly use this version to continue my playthrough.

@Tau: Unfortunately, it isn't that easy. Of course, I have all necessary RTP installed that can currently be found on the internet, though I can't find the RTP Don Miguel added, and I can't open Utopian Chaos with my legal copy of RPG Maker 2000 (if I could by the way, the puzzles wouldn't trouble me). Regarding the next game after Utopian Chaos, I will definitely learn how to use the RMTool.

Thanks. I didn't find anything on the internet, and I still didn't complete the game, but I achieved a bit of progress. Every time I hit a dead end and get stuck, I take a break for a few days, maybe ask some clever fellow players, and usually a solution pops up. An obscure game the internet nearly doesn't know anything about and an impatient/stupid player - that's a deadly gaming combination. :D Thanks again, and I will probably bother you if I can't overcome the next roadblock. :) By the way: Utopian Chaos isn't a masterpiece, but it's definitely one of the most unique RPG Maker 2000 JRPGs with its mixed sci-fi/fantasy setting, puzzles and sometimes weird design choices. A reminder, though: It also needs some of the RTP provided by Don Miguel, so unless anyone who wants to play it has this software available that scans for missing resources (the one mentioned by LordBlueRouge) or somehow possesses the aforementioned RTP, the game has to be patched up manually in order to prevent crashes.

I'm asking here as a last resort: Did anyone play/complete Utopian Chaos? I could really use some help with regard to the obscure puzzles.
