My Screenshot is Bigger Than Yours!

Oh my god please hide that. Also, why did you show 4 screenshots of the exact same location but with different dialogue?

It looks nice but you could have shown the exact same thing in 6 screens.

So...are you serious?

I know we won't amount to anything serious using RPG Maker, but I do take some seriousness in what I do. Not in terms of making it to the top like some people, but the quality of my work (just like anything in life) is something I take seriously.
It is also just for fun, and it's something to do to pass time!

I'm with Max on this one Nightblade. While I love the concept and how you pulled it off, I think the map ruins it for me. It kind of breaks the atmosphere of your game with the lack of detail and color. I don't know what you could do, though. There aren't many maps out there you could grab that give any room to do what you want. And I hate to give criticism to something you're sort of stuck with, but maybe someone out there could help you out.
Don't spend too much time on it, though. If that's all you've got to work with, then keep it.

Five Random Thoughts About Video Games.

The N64 was horrible. The Gamecube was horrible. And the Wii is also horrible.
I love Zelda, but the formula for the game hasn't changed at all. It's the same exact game every time, but nothing will change. It's a good formula, but it's wearing thin.

That is pretty much the problem with Nintendo. No fresh IPs to give the system any life and they just rehash their first party games. They could have done something with Mother 3.

Nintendo makes me angry these days.

It just feels the same. It really does for me. I know about what Bush did, and the man should hang for it. I don't quite understand why people HAVEN'T done it yet, and I don't remember the Clinton years whatsoever - I'm only 22, remember. That's not an excuse, I realize it

I know the whole drill about how important voting is. Both of my parents were in the military, both became incredibly messed up over it - combat vets, you see. I got that drill about how they fought for my right to vote for ages, and I used to think it mattered. Then I saw how many of my friends voted against Bush when I was in college and the "bad man" STILL got in, through cheating or whatever else it may have been. I felt as if it had gone to waste.

I might write in a candidate, but it certainly wouldn't be anyone that actually exists. Anyone that is in the running for presidency is probably too crooked to take care of the office properly anyway.

I may be ignorant, sure. I'll give you that. I have lost faith in politics. And in most everything else.

There is a difference. Even though nothing will change drastically, there is a difference.

What game has the best soundtrack?

I haven't really loved any FF soundtrack. They're great, but I just don't like them as much.

Wild Arms, Xenogears, Earthbound, and Legend of Legaia are some of my favorites. If I had to pick one, it would be either Wild Arms or Xenogears.

This game has the smoothest battle theme ever. I actually caught myself doing the head/hand motion thing a few times.
Yeah, the music in Mother 3 is incredible. Persona has nothing on it.
Eat it, Persona fans.

I'm probably going to be done with this game in a few days.

For those who don't know, this is the sequel to Earthbound on the SNES.

Get this game SOMEHOW guys, its incredible. I'm playing it on my PSP right now.
Feel free to discuss the other Mother games as well, if you must.

Also, in response to the article, I see it recommends planning, but I have consistently been referred to as one of the best writers in the community since 2002 and I NEVER FUCKING PLAN ANYTHING (and anything I did plan turned out to be a disaster!) so I guess I'd just like to say that your mileage may vary on this point.
Well this can be a double edged sword at times. There absolutely needs to be planning, but not to the extent of having the whole game figured out. Writing down a story and actually executing it (in video games) are two very different things. Having your whole game figured out before actual development can lead to plot holes among many other things. Not enough planning though can lead to the exact same problem, so a balance is needed. There has to be a medium where the storyline, atmosphere, and gameplay can come together to the point where the game can literally tell the story by itself.

Like Karsuman said, people are stingy when it comes to their characters and story in their games. People need to be more open to modifications to their storyline and characters(to the point of possibly deleting a character or cutting large story chunks out altogether).

But I think this is a pretty okay article.
