The Game Making Drive. (SIGNUPS)

Hey, what is this? Isn't this basically a blog topic on what you're working on? Or is it more of a scheduled time to work on your game.

Or a combination of both?
Cool stuff though.

Windows 7

Vista doesn't suck.

The EXACT same issues happened on Windows XP when it was first released, maybe some of you don't know that or just didn't have computers then. It also isn't Vista's fault that most of your programs aren't working. Vista as an OS is pretty decent. And you can change the annoying features of vista in about 3 clicks.
I'm not pro Vista or anything(I still use XP), but the hate around the OS is ridiculous. As long as you've got a decent computer, it's fine.

Microsoft isn't scrapping Vista, either. This is just going to be(like Shadowtext said) the Windows 98 of it. I think Vista's life span is going to last for a long time, considering XP is still around.

Hmmm.

I have a DS. At first I wish I'd bought a PSP, but then I played Worms: Open Warfare 2 (and Pokemon Diamond I guess) and everything changed.

I'm not sure how the PSP is; from what I can tell it's got a terrible battery life but quite a good collection of games (depending on what type of gamer you are though).
Worms came out on PSP. It had infrastructure mode too. It's really fun to play online.

The PSP has good battery life too. On the lowest brightness, it's about 8 hours. On the highest it lasts about 5 or 6. As for the games, they're kinda split. There isn't as much shovelware compared to the DS, but games come out at a snails pace. You're lucky to get 5 good games a year. What's out there now is good though, no matter what genre you're into.

If you could remake any videogame which one would it be?

Lufia 1.

Because the game is so horrible but had tons of potential. The slow walking speed kills the game, and the design is nothing compared to Lufia 2. It's frustrating.

Hmmm.

Well games aren't that expensive. If you've got a you know....JOB, then I don't see the need for so much pirating. And you can find games dirt cheap used if you search online. A game like GTA IV costs $25 if you know where to look.

Hmmm.

Neither system is worth the cost they are. The PSP doesn't have a huge library of games, but playing SNES, NES, etc wherever you want is the huge plus, at least for me. The DS has tons of shovelware, but the RPGs that do come out for it are pretty good.

But let me see if I can make a quick list of RPGs for you...

PSP:
Crisis Core
Riviera
Final Fantasy Tactics
Jeanne d'Arc
Valkyrie Profile
Final Fantasy 1 Anniversary
Final Fantasy 2 Anniversary
Tales of Eternia
Disgaea
Brave Story

Upcoming PSP RPGS:
Star Ocean First Departure
Star Ocean Second Evolution
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep
Final Fantasy 13 Agito(expect it by 2025)

DS:
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy III
The World Ends With You
Children of Mana
Advance Wars(I guess)
Etrian Odyssey
Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Pokemon
Mario and Luigi
Final Fantasy 12 Revenant wings
Castlevania games....
Zelda..?

Upcoming DS RPGs:
Dragon Quest IV
Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest IX
Sonic Chronicles
Kingdom Hearts 358 some shit
Fire Emblem
ASH
Suikoden
RIZ-ZOAWD

Yes, that's a lot of RPGs. And yes, I know I missed tons.

Look for feedback on this cave I'm working on:

Not bad, I like the detail on the map. There are issues with it, though. Like Karsuman said, the colors need work. The problem is the ground and water tiles are too similar to each other, so it's hard to distinguish them from one another. The only thing that separates them is that blue edge you've got. The Star Ocean grass tiles don't fit in well enough either. They're too bright for the rest of the chipset, I would lower the saturation on them a little bit. There's also a slight perspective issue. The vine in the water is growing straight up, but the cliffs have a diagonal slope to them. But anyway, I'm being nitpicky. It's a good map, I like how you have those bats on the ceilings. Little details like that can really make a game stand out.

Edit: Oh another screen. I already pointed out what I needed to say.

PSP 3000

In order to get full enjoyment out of your PSP....

1. Buy PSP
2. Hack PSP
3. Buy a large memory stick
4. Enjoy a plethora of NES, SNES, Genesis, MAME, PS1, and homebrew games

But yeah, the new version will be the best. If you haven't got one already, pick this up when it comes out. This new one is going to come packaged with a 4GB memory stick, which is all you need. IMO, the PSP is the best portable handheld that's ever existed.
And it isn't region locked.

While I like the screen Eschalt, I don't like the color scheme that's going on. There's too much gray in the map, it's hard to distinguish between the walls, floors, and what's actually passable to the player. I'm mostly referring to the first screenshot, the second isn't as bad. I also don't think the gradient walls look too good, the ones in the second screenshot fit better. A little editing could work wonders for the maps, right now it's a little hard to distinguish between objects and what's passable. Great custom graphics, though.

RM2K3 runs at a 320x240 resolution, of course it would look bad.
You can't remove the "graininess" when you blow up a resolution like that. It isn't possible. Good try, though.
