try downloading idraw chara maker for fine pixel editiing and Paint.NET for a more advanced alternative to paint.

Both are free.

Hey man, I'm no pixel artist but I hope you know that the amount of work you're asking to be done is a LOT.

Also the complicated animations are actually not even possible if you're planning on using battlechars because they have a 3-frame animation limit.

Pixelling takes a lot of time, especially for multiple frames. You're best off learning to edit some sprites from the RTP yourself first. There's a hell of a lot of articles/tutorials about pixel art on this site and a thread on the forums.
