There needs to be a counter at the bottom that shows a total of how many teams are signed up, so that I can look at it before I cry myself to sleep each night.

Don't worry. If history has told us anything, there's a high probability that at least half of the entries won't be completed and submitted.

Well, if it makes you feel better, we have three completed games to our names, all of which contain some level of custom art, so we know how to finish a project. The only projects we haven't finished are the Overambitious First Project(tm) and a sequel that kept straying from what we wanted it to be. This project has a very reasonable scope (it's only a smidgen longer than OFP's last demo, location-wise anyway), and all the systems are done minus tweaking as we go. The goal is to have a demo that covers about a third of the game done before the end of the year, and the finished game sometime in the first half of next year.

That is a concern I have as well, but I'm hoping the short nature of the game will mean it never gets to the point of tedium. There's only seven areas, two of which do not have combat. You only have the entire party for the entirety of one of those areas, though you have a full party for four of the six bosses.

A video in the future is certainly a possibility since Maki's computer can handle running the game and recording at the same time unlike my POS. There's a lot of enemy development to do first though.

That's more or less correct. Seasons function as the elements to this games. Respectively, they're actually summer (flowers in bloom), winter, spring (flower buds), and fall (changing leaves).

Do it. Take the plunge. It's just three weeks. I originally thought "Hmmm. Can I actually make something worthwhile in this time? Will it interfere with that one-night Salsa lesson? I guess I'll go for it." And now I'm having so much fun. Never would have made a game like this normally.

It's just a matter of my current project is being actively worked on, and I'd hate to kill the momentum it has going. It's got a target demo date set and everything.

I've had both successful and unsuccessful contest projects before, so I know how it goes with these things. In fact, the game I'm currently working on is the first game in a long time that's not for a contest.

But... I am already attached to the inspiration that hit tonight.

I spent the first week hmming and haaing over whether I was willing to take a break from my current project to enter this or not. Still not 100% committed yet, but we do have an interesting idea now. Might flesh it out over the next day or two and see if it's going to lead to anything significant.
