How can I make a HP/Food/Water/Etc. Bar (rm2k3)
i would have an event that constantly checks status of all bar info and displays and adjusts pictures accordingly.
look how other rm games do it. reverse engineer that shit. dive in. learn something.
'use better maker' is a throwaway comment.

been working on some future graphics. All made with parallax and pictures, no tilesets are used at all. it looks a little smoother in game
Wooby RPG: Legend of the Woob Blocks
Monsters, stats, damage and balance. A game of numbers.
chrono used a lot of boss attacks that diminish your HP by percent, like dropping it by half, or even 99. so regardless of level that attack is as proportionally devastating. do you think that was part of the success?

i guess i just have a stigma against those high res vx square looking tiles. im no better than craze judging my mother-esque maps.
thanks for the tips guys, you're right about the leaves lining up looking weird. Made some varying tiles and it already looks way better.
Fugue- they are not direct rips. original work + heavy heavy edits + a few direct rips for consistancys sake (it IS an EB FANGAME- original game, set in the same "world" as mother 2) plus I doubt my tilesets would be of much use because-
UPRC- I use a blend of panorama, tilesets and pictures. Panorama for the grass/roads (no reason to clutter my tileset with these things I can set in stone on a fixed bg). tilesets for trees and objects (which gives me now 2 layers with transparency OVER my panorama,) and pictures for the tops of buildings and stuff that goes over the heros. then will come events and NPCs and animated objects and hopefully really bring these to life.
and yes these maps are all very new and still being filled in which accoutns for a few of the errors i missed. thanks for the comments everyone!
(if anyone has any experience creating mother-esque tiles get in touch with me)

I guess lifeless wasn't the best term. I dunno. In my opinion, those tiles all look so bland and dull to me. Despite the high resolution they just look DEFAULT for back of a better word. Almost like this is a world where cartoon bratz dolls would live ...
I posted several different shots of his games and to me, they all look like they could be different areas of the same game.
The point I was trying to make is, why have that attitude towards ripped graphics? Using the default tiles is the same thing, making the best of resources available to create something of your own. In my case almost all the tiles are original or heavy edits and direct rips where appropriate. Its a fangame.
I guess I look like a dick kind of, but oh well. screens.

Ill try shrinking the leaf piles in the other screen, thanks guys.
also being made in craze's favorite engine, rm2k3

link- i was going for like...raked up leaves in piles for collection. maybe i can illustrate that better. thanks for actually commenting on the mapping.
craze- no offense but I expected a better attitude about using rips from you. I've been looking through some games you developed and...if you put them all side by side they all look like the EXACT same lifeless game.

(all screens credited to craze)
and despite this i bet they all have some flair of individuality to them. you should know its the context and how they are used not just the tiles themselves. maybe you've forgotten that riding your high horse for so long though ; )

wow really? theres a ton of original tiles in there. The whole church, the trees, the water tower and strip mall idea. It IS for an earthbound game, and t actual he only thing I RIPPED straight from the game is the roads.
Constructive post, craze. You can comment on layout of map, and the way tiles are used, palette, and general concept/atmosphere created.
