Justrob, having the whole floor red line that is an eyesore. You post here to get criticism, either learn from it, or ignore it. Switching up the floor tiles for different rooms makes it look more interesting and smaller useage of the red rug make it more like a throw carpet.

eb fan game ive been working on slowly for the last few years.
all eb features, cbs, rolling hp, 8d, also timed hits ala mario rpg,
skip to 1:25 for the battle, (in this test video the enemy names are labeled wrong)
Linearity OK? Are choices important?
I think it is important to create the illusion of choice. Mostly the player Won't even know what was optional or non linear until a replay. Which is great and all for replay value but i wouldnt count on that and design wise I always feel like if I'm going to design something I'd like to get it in game.

been adding lots of little details to the ship. Anyone have any cool ideas for a space/exploration rpg? Gameplay elements, locations anything?

I'd still personally scrap that title screen altogether.
Really, it is a very trivial aspect of the game creation process.
Dont stress too hard about a title screen if it isnt coming together, you have time.. Unless you're finished the game, I guess.
Lockez, yeah I see what you mean abiout the space map. Maybe ill increase the speed or try what you suggested. I added some more layers, holograms, and tried to detail up the engine room.
Anyone have any cool ideas of stuff to add or try for a space ship?
you get sliced if you walk into the turbine, and if you open the door without the airlock you get sucked out into space lol

@Dragol - thats a badass ship, though I feel the head of the front is bit off perspective compared to the ship top. Nitpicking though, looks awesome.
@Mr Detective - that font is really hard on the eyes, not to mention poor color choice. Saturated Red and lazer lime green, jesus.

can't you utilize the one panorama image, in conjunction with layering pictures
to achieve the same effect? You have basically 4 or 5 real layers of graphics to work with, the only problem lies in what is over/under the hero sprite. but dependingo n what you're tryign to achive you can work around this.

4: PICTURES (always above hero)

3:events (can be above/same/below sprite level)
2: chip tiles (2 layers that can be above/same/below sprite level)
1: PANORAMA (always below hero)
