Bug Reports

I'm having a hard time reproducing the error, as soon as a monster dies, the cursor immediately moves to the next on its own. Any tips on how I can reproduce this, or if you're able to do it can you send me a screen of the error if a script error is given?

Final Fantasy: Legend of Balance

Hmm, looking again at the auction, you should be able to win the stone for 15k. If you are bidding up to and above 18k, something isn't right. I'm not sure what just yet though, as no one else has had a problem purchasing it. Let me know if the problem is still there when you try again. Sorry for the trouble!

Final Fantasy: Legend of Balance

If you bid more than 18k does it keep going? I'm not sure what it's doing, the auction appears to be set up properly. :/

The Kraken Club can actually be gotten for 1 gil. It's something of a gag item, but it does have some interesting use in battle.

@kenlan: Nah you don't have to buy everything else... I think if the increment goes up slow enough sometimes the auction will just end. The script I am using for the AH is pretty finicky and I had to edit it a bit. You might just need to bid in larger increments. Or does he just end it immediately at 18k regardless?

@Noel: Yeah, the bread and butter of Tales games is character development. Especially with the skit system, the characters are given a lot more love than in just about any other series.

I didn't really give the artes lot of thought, but the ones you picked look fine to me. You're not going to be able to match up roles from 2 completely different series anyway, haha.

Bug Reports

Ugh, that's no good. I'll have a look. No errors are thrown out, just a RGSS3 crash?

@Wcouillard: Yeah it's VE Target Arrow. If you have a fix and could share that'd be awesome, would save me a bit of time fixing it myself. Thanks!

Bug Reports

I just tested, there is a problem. I'll fix it shortly and put it in the next patch. I thought I fixed it but it seems not. Thanks for the report!

Final Fantasy: Legend of Balance

Well, I'm not opposed to adding things like new bosses or extensions to the bonus dungeon if the game starts getting really popular, since those can be pretty easily patched in so anyone can try them out. That said I don't know where I could really go past the current bonus dungeon rewards...

I love Tales games, and in fact with how the FF series is going, Tales is probably one of my favorite series overall, in a tie with Dragon Quest. I'd love to do a Tales fangame, and now that Moghunter has put out an actual functional LMBS, I have been very tempted. That said, I don't think nearly as many people would play it as a FF Fangame, and it'd probably be a lot harder to do properly (though honestly once LMBS was set up battles would probably be easier to make since Tales bosses have pretty simple AI, the challenge is in the action element). Anyway, interesting list! I can't say I've ever thought of anything like that, haha.

I'll play along a bit.
Aeth - Shining Bind (Kratos, Symphonia)
Gradd - Rending Saber (Asch, Abyss)
Doiden - I'd say give him Majestic Gate, Dag could have Spiral Ascension or Burning Phoenix.
Flame - idk either, maybe something goofy like No Items Ever!

Not that I'd actually do this, haha. Just filling in your little list.

FAQs

For monsters, yeah their stats are based on the defaults. Their stats are done much more simply than character stats, so you could calculate their stats based on the database ones that way. That said some bosses use different stat calculations, mainly bosses, so I'd have to probably give you those individually. If you do really want to do this let me know and we can work something out!

Character stats use formulas mainly based on FF4, with a sprinkling of FF5 and FF6 here and there. They have very little to do with the normal RPGMaker stats, besides using the database param curves for level growth on the left side stats as a matter of convenience.

FAQs

I've actually reeled in Climhazzard a little in recent patches since it's quite OP early on. It's still good, though!

Thanks again for your hard work on the wiki, it's a really good resource, and I plan to link it on the main page when you're all done setting everything up. As for a bestiary, there actually is a script in the game, but access is dummied out. The issue is the fact that I use a lot of extra stats, as I'm sure people have pretty immediately noticed. Because of that, I have to extensively edit any scripts that list stats to display all of the custom stats. My Enemy list is also essentially set up in the order you encounter the enemies, so there'd be no distinction between bosses and normal enemies and things might be quite out of order at times. On top of all that, there's also the matter of monsters having different stats on different difficulties, and it was really just a headache I didn't feel like dealing with.

That said, I could get that info or work on the bestiary at some point if you were to make an enemy list. Everything would be doable, it'd just be pretty tedious to edit the script.

FAQs

We could do that, but it would be a bit of an undertaking so we might not be able to get to it for a while. Every boss has a gimmick, but in general good strategies to practice are:

-Kill any adds that spawn or are with the boss.
-Attack carefully at first to test for counterattacks.
-Keep HP high.
-Use Protect/Shell if you have someone able to use them.
-Be on the lookout for new attacks as the boss' HP goes down.
