Does anyone remember GamingGroundZero? (Remembering GamingGroundZero)

I actually managed to register for GGZ and get into their forums by just showing off some sprites. Wishmoo seemed to really like me and was all preparing to make me a resource section on the main site.

I sort of drifted away because I only went there to see what the place was like myself, after all the shit talk it got on other communities. What I found was a fairly insular, and not nearly as active as anywhere else forum frequented by the same few people patting each other on the back.

Not sure why such a place became so derided. ...Well, I do actually. But still.

Final Fantasy XV

From what I understand, all of that city footage was cut and put into Kingsglaive. Noctis and his buddies were shunted out onto a field trip to miss the whole thing, while Nomura's initial designs were to have them in the thick of the Niflheim invasion.

It's a bit more boring imo, and it cuts out a huge chunk of the backstory to a movie you'll have to pay to see. But heeeey.

[RM2K3 PATCH] PicsInBattle/PicPointers (for v1.11)

author=Magi
Is there a patch for that or is it DynRPG related?

https://rpgmaker.net/users/Skie%20Fortress/locker/battle_store_itemskill.rar

It appears to be a DynRPG plugin. Made by PepsiOtaku at that. I forgot that little detail. Props to him all over again. This patch single handedly saved my entire battle system back in the day.

[RM2K3 PATCH] PicsInBattle/PicPointers (for v1.11)

Oho.

If it were again made possible to store the database ID of a skill inside of a variable, then the 2k3 version of SEM would suddenly become viable again. :|a

But great work on this so far. Just these two open up a bunch of doors for people.

As An Adult, Do You Find Yourself Playing More Video Games At This Age Or Less?

Way, way, waaaaay less.

When I was a kid, we had a nintendo, and then a super nintendo, but I had to share with three other siblings, so I never actually got to play anything, just watch. Grandma also decided videogames were stupid and expensive, so we missed the PS1 era entirely. Once highschool came around, we got a PS2, and while I still had to share, my sibling's interests veered away from games. That left me with more time on the system, and I found myself playing a lot of JRPGs, many of which influenced my game design philosophy today.

Anywho, fast forward to now, and I find myself with absolutely no time to sit down in front of a TV and hold a controller for hours. It feels like a waste of time to me, when I could be on my computer, getting other work done. When I game, it's usually in short bursts on the 3DS, or a casual session on a steam game. I can't keep up with the console nonsense anymore.

Though I will make exceptions for favorite series like Tales of, Persona, Fighting Games, Star Ocean, etc. Otherwise, lots and lots of games just pass me by now.

McBacon Jam (2?) post mortem

I dunno, man.

I had a lot of fun working with my team. I'd say the point was more about working with new people and nurturing a concept together. Of course, if something playable comes out of it in the time frame of the event, awesome. But I think there's more to take away from this event than just whether a playable game came out of it. We will continue working on our game though. No way we'll just throw that work away.

Just my two cents.

The Impossible Games Thread

Seconding Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth. I stopped playing that game after the 4th map and a few levels of the randomly generated side tower. I dunno who designed that game, but they need to be shot.

The DS rerelease is actually playable though. They made the original PS1 difficulty hard mode, and made an easier difficulty normal mode.

[RMVX ACE] [SCRIPTING] Demon Legacy remake needs battle system

I don't want to be that guy who says this, but have you checked what's available? You're using VX Ace, right?

Based on your mention of Phantom Legacy, I assume you want a sideview battle system with the capability of giving actors different command sets and possibly playstyles with unique sprite animations for skills. Off the top of my head, you could accomplish this with a combination of Kread's animated battlers, YF's battle system and other misc scripts, and Luna Engine to make a unique GUI. Just using those as a base, you come pretty close to what Phantom Legacy was.

Beyond that, you'd probably have an easier time getting any little mechanics you want done.

...But that's just my two cents. Whatever you wind up with in the end, I look forward to it.
