Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost
Wait, running away is based on agility? I hereby upgrade my 287 agility Hargon from Great Character to Greatest Character. No wonder it was so easy to run away while trying to figure out what the 1/20 drop on the red goop monster there at the end was. (Apparently, he WASN'T the Goopi a certain someone hinted at, dammit.)
He's right, the guard near the stairwell on B3 can see through the wall to his west, where you have to double-back through his detection range. I also was caught a few times with no guards visible at all (suspicion: these were all within seconds of being caught, still near the cell - maybe some flags on B4 don't get reset properly on capture?)
What helped me was to stop looking for secrets and just make a bee-line to the exit (SE corner B1) - as far as I could tell, there was nothing to find. Or at least, nothing that wasn't still there when you can re-visit the prison guardless later.

The trials are in the past, while freeing Quevi (well before the only block puzzle I can remember that would inspire comment - although I kind of liked it, as I got 2 NM drops from figuring out that ice won't slide over an already-filled hole, start over).
I believe all that stops you are the requisite materials - Yggdrasil Branches and Magic Water being pretty rare at that point. I really only found their skills useful for impressing the achievement man though. Maybe I wouldn't have if I picked up the better ones before they were outclassed by higher-level abilities.

Well, he doesn't care about Hargon anyway. But that's alright, Hargon was already by far the best member of my team by the end, he can keep his stupid egg.
The sprint button is a feature of the engine (although I think it can be disabled if the designed chooses to?)
And the leather cape is one of the basic alchemy recipes - 4 beast hides and 2 cotton threads.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost
Yes, although I only got to nerf them AFTER getting through once ... then TAKING THE WRONG PORTAL looking for treasure ... then being unable to do it again ... then finding the hint when I went back to town to give up for the night >.<
Just managed to finish. Unless someone wants to spoil the stuff I know I missed, I guess I'm done:
(Most or all of these are probably related and in the very late or post-game)
-What, if anything, was hinted at with the animations in the credits
-Arena Master's token location
-Last 3 monster book entries
-Hero's Shield (probably somewhere I didn't think to check with the Master Key)
-How to breed the Ghostbane the guide hints at
-How to get the breeding center guy with the rare egg to acknowledge me
A very enjoyable week or two playing, thank you. A couple of (cosmetic) bugs I noticed, if you're interested in fixing:
-Breeding Hargon with a Material family claims to yield a Dracolord. Sadly, this is not the case.
-Several NPCs in Onyu can walk through walls in its final state.
-The monster material salesman always shows "currently owned: 0" - at least he did for the MegaSlime drops, making me waste a good deal of gold
-Not exactly a bug, but unless I wasn't paying attention nobody warns you you can only have 1 legendary weapon until it is too late.
-Climbing to the top of the Illae mountain a second time in the past repeats the event (but doesn't appear to break anything.)
-Staying in many inns in the present reverts the town music to the sadder tune that used to play in the past.
-The Royal and Ninja costumes don't really stick - you often get reverted back to default. And then seem them on again randomly later.
-The blowing wind-sound from the mountain in Yardick can stay on indefinitely in some circumstances - going back to Yardick continent seemed to fix.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost
Ah, it's
Innkeeper in Yardrick ... you wouldn't believe how many times I talked to the man bothering her, but not her. Or failed at the arena with the requisite number of people already ... and thought "well, time to go to the inn ... no wait, I got a free heal, nevermind".
Great game so far, btw. So far I've only wanted to murder you for those fans in the Yuria dungeon, and when I realized how many hours it's going to take for my fresh new boss monster to learn that Healusmost essence I was so careful to breed ...

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost
So, I think I've missed someone for Onyu - it has been stuck at 7 residents for over half the game (nobody has accepted my offer from the city of Illae onward), and I've now opened all 12 pedestals.
I currently have:
- An inn (completely empty) and two roofed buildings (one holding a tiny medal and nothing else, the other holding 4 people)
- A jester and a soldier outside pleased to be there
- A father and daughter standing outside arguing
- Two monster masters inside (and I already bred with the one's DragonKid)
- A guy from Bariden standing inside saying he likes the climate
In the outside world, the following people react to the brochure:
- Woman in Illae who traded my Fur Poncho for a pet (acts indecisive)
- Guy at Esrach inn who wonders if there is more to life (acts indecisive)
- Herb Synthesis guy in Yuria (who wants the town built up more)
- Man in Persavia (who also wants the town built up more)
And at least 4 other people in the later towns who say something that sounds like they want to move, but don't react to the brochure.
What's going on? I strongly suspect that I'm missing just one person mid-game, but I can't for the life of me figure out who. Are there potential residents in the past? Outside of a town Zoom takes you to? I'm about to give up at this point ... you even made me register an account to ask.
