Everlong

To the contrary on the level cap discussion; I just hit level 99 and am finding the game interminable now that I've also hit areas where that's insufficient to turn off encounters ;-;

Final Fantasy: Legend of Balance

This game pulled me away from the actual FF14 for far too long. Just finished off the bonus dungeon, enjoyed the whole thing very much :)

It was strange having 18 characters; the relative lack of development for each fit well for it, though. I was hoping to at one point find a dungeon that required multiple parties like in VI (could have had 4 :o) ... but I guess this worked too. Especially since I settled on the game-breaking party pretty quickly.

I played on hard the whole time. Which initially was painful,slowly fading into seeming like 'normal' around the time of the scenarios, and became 'easy' by the time I started doing all the character sidequests.

As others have mentioned, Abelia is a walking game-breaker; though in my opinion, it's not so much her toolset as the way stats scale and magicite works. There is no reason NOT to leave Garuda/Diabolos on her the whole game ... giving her an Intelligence north of 200 by game's end. Causing her to cast the same spells for almost 10x the damage Flame does. I shudder to think what I could have done with Karina if I had given her the STR magicite for the whole game, instead of starting around level 45.

But, as I saw ... awesome game. Thank you for making/sharing it!

Master of the Wind Review

Fairly new here - to the point I just now played Master of the Wind - and since this review almost convinced me not to play, I might as well point out how wrong it is ... at least, as it applies to the last 90% of the game. But for the 10% he went through, he IS accurate - Cade really *is* that annoying early on, Stoic's motives remain almost completely unexplained, the conclusion that Wal... Equipment King is behind everything is jumped to with literally zero evidence. Until we got to meet Dican, I was seriously starting to wonder if I was playing the villains of the game.

Of course, it's around that point that the story really starts moving, and it reveals more than enough to explain WHY everyone feels the way they do. For some minor spoilers, if the reviewer or anyone reading that's also influenced by him are listening: if we're going with the Germany analogy, well, most people are cool with the modern-day Gallians, though some who lived through WWII hold a bit of a grudge (hello Stoic). And the bulk of our major antagonists turn out to be essentially Neo-Nazis. Except influential, armed with magic, and a real chance of taking over the world. I guess what I'm saying is, if you quit near the start of arc2, you quit right before the story stopped being so infuriating.

If I were writing a review, it's also the point where the story, music, gameplay, etc all easily hit a 5/5 and stay there. Game is very, very easily a 5/5 as an interactive story.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

I was never able to find the hero's shield either. (Did get the relic quest one that halves MP and whatnot, but not another special one.) Does it actually exist?

If so, and we aren't just being oblivious - my theory is that the 41st TinyMedal I somehow wound up with (and - sorry - didn't keep track of which I found that wasn't in the walkthrough) was supposed to be the shield.

(I am so nerdy I even made myself an Excel spreadsheet showing the breeding combos).

Spreadsheets aren't nerdy ;-;

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

You don't need the "never before seen" guy - you can have GhostBane right after picking up the slime from Quevi, if you're enough of a glutton for punishment to level a dozen or so monsters to 15.

There's not much more I can say without spoiling it, and not gonna so long as Orias wants it to be a secret. I guess this:

You're following the same logic train I did almost exactly. You're very close. I'm (almost) sure there is only one way to use all 11 monsters, Torchtree, and the 3 optionals to get a mate for Torchy without "wasting" any (and reasonably sure that this is the ONLY way to boil down any starting 11 to any single pair) - if you find a mate for Torchy that flies, it's the one. And finally ... you've overlooked one very relevant combination in the breeding PDF - you'll know it when you see it.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

I got Orias to post a hint on Ghostbane (spoilered in a response to me on page 33); the key insight is that his breeding pair requires specific breeding of all 11 monsters available to you.

Orias let slip that one of the breeding pair is Torchtree, and your 3 optional guys should be Azuli, Pyuro, and Whiteking. What helped me further was the realization that Torchtree needed a boss in his ancestry, and since you can only get one boss ...

This unfortunately means, that if your only save has already bred a Gasgon and a 1EyeClown ... I believe you're out of luck unless you want to restart the game. Sorry. My advice would be to just pick up some other abilities that look good and feed them to your Hargon (who you might consider transforming through some of the pairs labelled with "+BOSS").

And anyway, using Arcane Bension (doubles your stats) along with Ghostbane's Polarity (halves monster stats and tries to inflict most status ailments - and generally SUCCEEDS on everyone, even bosses) does kind of make you immortal and wreck the fun of the game if you abuse it ... I kind of wish I hadn't.

For the others - I think Loverain (and similar) ar a % of MaxHP, and the egg question is answered in the guide PDF - beat Orias's avatar at the arena for the monster to trade (you can actually get one of three - the post on page33 gives spell lists); but you can only do this after winning the normal game.

Very cool! I think you're the first player to figure out how to make him. :)

Ghostbane is certainly a very powerful monster!

Was somewhat close before asking questions last week; had already worked out that his two parents were unusually difficult to make

I'd encourage anyone else to not use him (at least on a first playthrough) - his unique moves are VERY powerful, and most of the bosses that you'd think would be immune, aren't.

On the other hand, he's great for the post-game ... which is definitely worth a look to anyone reading this.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

Yup, made a Ghostbane. I think I'll keep him. If for no other reason than an all-hitting metal-killer move on someone with far more agility than the metal monsters is just obscene. At level 25, he's pretty much a match for the rest of the party (who hit the low 40s leveling all those lesser beings to 15 >.< ) ... time to move on and finish up the regular game, get to the new stuff.

Dragon Quest: Legacy of the Lost

Huh, mentally read it as "one gene that will grant 10MP". Deal of the century, then.
