White Magic Animation Tests

This looks fantastic!! All the animations are well detailed. The battle theme remix of Final Fantasy IV also sounds nice. It's great to finally see this game in action! I hope you release more videos soon because this is very attractive. Best of luck :)

This part looks interesting! Do you need the hiking gear to go to the snowy cliffs? And you better not make us find another Tornado Bracelet!! It took me all day to find out I had to use the Rabbit boots the whole time! By the way, how close are you to being done with this game?

So far, Lydia has plenty of moves, I even decided to re-add the wall jump. Also, slopes have been added to the game. Thanks to these two updates, level design is going to be taken even further.

Fantasia:Active Item Usage System

author=Dyhalto
Interesting. But I hope your item navigation system isn't cluttered as f--k like in D&D Tower of Doom.
And will there be other items too? Like "blow up everything on screen" type items? Or Castlevania style sub-weapons?

I am working on the HUD often. I hope it isn't cluttered when I release the next demo. And yes there will be several other items that aid you such as...

  • Lightning Burst: Creates a huge flash of lightning that instantly kills all enemies on the screen.
  • Whirlwind: Cast a tornado and fly with it.
  • Bomb: Blows up a wall leading to secret areas of a stage.
  • Fireball: Bounces 10 times before blowing out. Burns several things.

Sub weapons are a good idea. However, I may do sub-magic instead. Right now,Crescent wave is Lydia's main magic attack. She needs more than that though. Also, I plan on making elemental magic. Some bosses will not be affected by magic/weapons, so that makes it more strategic.

I won't go into detail with all the Items, but these are several of them.

This is the old engine of Fantasia. This project has come a long way. This one however, had an Active Item usage system. I got rid of it after a while, but I reconsideed reviving it. It was a quick way to use items and it's simple. There is a blog on it also.

Lydia_3d.png

Despite the Image quality, I added a 3D image of Lydia I created in Soul Calibur 3. It was one of the best ways to give the players an image of what she looks like.

Head: Pegasus Headband
Shoulders: Heavy Pads
Upper Body: Goddess Armor
Arms: Prayer Gauntlets

The rest you can't see yet because I wanted to add the face and top half first.

I remember doing this in the original game! You went all out re-imagining this game. are you making this game by heart or are you using a walkthrough or something to help you remember certain parts of the game?

This boss was extremely easy in the original! You really went all out making this boss harder. It took me a couple tries to beat this one, but action games focus a lot on strategy and this game has that pinned down. Keep up the good work!

Dragon Quest goes Platformer (working title)

I liked this demo a lot! It is very inspirational. This is also original because nobody has ever thought of a Dragon Quest platformer before. I would add a item menu in Fantasia, but I don't know how right now. Instead I plan on doing everything in real time. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Due to the fact that I can't move left correctly while doing this move (for some odd reason), I have to change the controls. This may result in a good thing for both me and the players.
