Akage Review

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

Dang. I thought I was the only to have ever heard of this, let alone bothered to watch it.

Good review, though. A bit harsh, but it does define the flaws. A more turn-based action system is usually right for me (similar to Ahriman's Prophecy), but the lack of story and not being able to easily move around is what I think hurts the game.

But as Liberty pointed out, review scores have a way of balancing each other out.

Edit: I needed to clarify something here. I agree with the written content of the review more so than the score. I do feel the score was harsh and very low, especially since the reviewer didn't touch on some other aspects of the game, such as the mapping.

I enjoy turn-based action rpg's as much as I like them separate (either turn or action rpgs), but my main agreement was with the balancing issues and the story, as the reviewer pointed out. Ahriman's Prophecy is similar in the combat, but at least in that game you had a full party to work with, a decent story, and room to manuever.

This is another reason I seldom consider the score of a game over the written material.

If I ever have kids, I'm going to brainwash them into playing all the games I enjoyed as a kid like kentona does.
lucky for me it was an easy sell, because amazing games from 1990 are still pretty amazing in 2015.

My 5 year is intrigued by Super Mario Bros and Pac-Man from the NES. And there's always the old cartoons we grew up with as well. The 80s and 90s were both great decades.

What are some really funny RPG Maker games?

Night of the Noobyas (shameless plug, there) :(
Tales of the Drunken Paladin - fairly popular, one of my faves
The Most Stupidest Game Ever Reduh - as others have pointed out.
Retro Quest - I like it, others not so much (mainly a parody of GB and rpg games)
Fragile Hearts series

Never mind, my brain didn't comprehend the whole thing. Friday at work, after a potluck, and I just want to go home.

[Done] The Great RMN Migration

I assume accounts will just port over then? Also if you have linked to a game's download for RMN on other forums, I assume we'll need to have these updated as well.

On topic:

I don't know the history behind all this (I have never heard of Kisareth before), but after reading about this and how much of a clear scam it is...Ugh..

It's because of people like this that RPGmaker gets a bad rap. It's just plain gross. Scam on top of viruses/Adware on top of further scams. *sigh*

Before they went commercial with their own game, they were known around the RM sites for creating fake accounts and giving themselves fake reviews, while also using the fake accounts to give other potential developers bad reviews. They were banned from both here and RRR, but I imagine the same is true for other sites as well.

They've got their game on Steam (I imagine they probably scummed GL with fake accounts the same way) and now they seem to be involved with Dark Designs (whether a partner or another alias of them, I don't know). It'd be quite interesting if they wind up in a similar lawsuit with SE just for supporting DD.

And not liking the music at all. It's terrible. The original was great because it was the perfect amount of balance - this one is all riffs and guitars and mental. No balance at all. >.< He ruined good music.

My lord, the battle music alone was just so epic. It still invokes in me such a heroic beat, and makes me want to jump in and beat down every villain.

It also reminds me of some of some of the classic animes during that era during some of the more intense action themes, which is probably what they were going for since anime seemed to really find its foot amongst the US market in the mid 90s. I couldn't look anywhere without an anime advertisement.

I don't watch as much anime these days (still trying to carve out time to watch my Ys Collection), but I can still appreciate the music of the SNES.

Final Fantasy XV

I'm not going to lie, it does look intriguing, but I'm not sold enough to run out and get this. I tend to give companies the benefit of the doubt (even if they've fallen many times in the past), but I also reserve judgment for the final release. Which also means I don't go out and blow money on a whim until I've ensured (usually through reviews, LP's, and press releases) that it's worth my cash and time.

I'm usually not an ARPG gamer, but I do swing that way at times (Zelda, Secret of Mana, Crystalis, NES Willow, Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy Adventure have all been amongst my favorite games). But so far what I keep seeing is what's being cut from the demo with promises of what will be in the final version. The demo should be selling people on more than just graphics. I'm quite sure there will be a lot to do in the demo, but every time I keep hearing that "X, Y, and Z won't be in the demo but will be in the complete game" I can't help but cringe, because a lot of these are the features that people were hoping to be able to play and judge the game's worth on.

Regardless, though, I'm sick and tired of hearing about FFXV, not because I think it'll be a bad game. I wish it were done with and released already, not because I think it'll be a great game. Because I just don't know without finally seeing it released (that's where the debate of it's success or lack thereof will finally be put to rest).

I'm just tired of all the drama, the hype, and the hate that's been building up as a result of this game.

Just review the comments on the internet, and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Either you love the game or you hate it. If you hate it, you're a troll by those who love it. If you love it, you're a blind fanboy by those who hate it.

But the worst position to be in? In between! Because then you're hated by both sides, you're a troll with blind devotion of sorts. But these are the ones I think who have legite concerns (not complaining to be complaining and not ready to accept everything without at least asking questions).

It's your fault, Jude. You cancelled Necropolis, and now we have nothing better to do than pick faults with one another. :)
