Castle Red 2: Subservience

Great work as a sequel to the original Castle Red.

If there is one thing the author showed me with the first game, it is that he has very clear ideas of what he wants to show. Trying to mix several elements of terror in a single game: survival, supernatural story, escape from an unknown place, not knowing where you are or how you got there, etc.

In CR2, a lot of things have been polished, like the stages are a little better created, we don’t have that exaggerated feeling that all the rooms and corridors are absurdly giant. On the other hand, the player is subject to actions within the game, which mark his path. Since it is a DEMO, you may not notice the real effect of choosing between option A or option B.

Apart from that, the game is engaging, and you’re hooked. Recommended. Too bad the project is dead.

One Night 2: The Beyond

More than an acceptable prequel that, as a second installment in the One Night saga, improves many things from its predecessor.

The story is consistent and perfectly carried throughout the game, revealing certain hidden elements that will open the player's eyes in surprise. All the information that we have before us is a bit confusing but with time everything is explained, it's comforting.

There is a wide variety of rooms, corridors, and locations, although the fact that you have to go through those locations 100 times helps a lot to easily remember locations and shortcuts.

Being able to choose between 2 different players is great, it gives you a deeper sense of immersion. Your character is unassuming and never goes for cheap drama or jumpscares to scare you. There is always a feeling in the air that grabs you to find out more.

Each character does what they have to do, they are professionals in their field, not like some cheap teen-horror movie adaptation. It's appreciated to play as adults.

The difficulty of the puzzles is high, but by studying them well they can be solved. The ending is surprising at least, although the fact that it is the default takes a lot out of so much effort. Is it worth getting the good ending? Maybe, but I don't think so.

The 13th Killer Episode 1

Shitty ass horror game ngl.

Falsely attracted by the idea of a haunted-town horror game, all the action happens in a very limited university campus. Some buildings are not accessible, so the real action takes place in only 2 main buildings, "The Dorm" and the main building. There are just so many bad things that only the idea of being chased by a psicokiller and solving puzzles are the only good things, well at least the idea was good, the execution of this idea is another different thing...

First of all, who in the glorious hell did the translation? We find the answer in the final credits: "Tsukishiro Kazuki". Probably better known by his now abandoned horror rpgmaker games blogspot, this guy totally mess it up with the game. Nothing makes sense, neither conversations, dialogues or even the name of some items. So idk if the thing that i didn't really understand a shit is thanks to the awful translation or just a very poor narrative. Sometimes you can get a general idea of what is going on, but the gigantic bunch of grammar mistakes and general unawareness of how to properly construct sentences in english totally demolish any signs of immersion.

By the way, do you think you know people’s names? You know nothing, wait for this. Characters have the most ridiculous names ever imagined, it's a joke.

Oh wait, there's more. It's not full of bugs, it's bursting of them. When walking on a stone floor it sounds as if you were walking on a wooden one, the sound of unlocking a lock is used to indicate the opposite, the inventory has not been fully translated, the character walks over chairs or beds...

The puzzle difficulty is sometimes average, sometimes bullshit. A guide is necessary to finish the game because some riddles doesn't have any sense, here you have

Finally, the art of the game... is disgusting. You can tell that the creator took a long time to draw all the characters and entire action scenes, but the drawing is terrible. I hope I don't have nightmares tonight, goddamn it.

Digital Chain

Unfinished since cannot change the spirit objects once assigned with each student, so there's no way i could get the true ending. My combination was Paintbrush for the artist, Volleyball flyer for the girl, and then stopped right there. There ain't a clue of what to choose to the second guy, Ryo. Neither, any combination of the keywords helped a little. You can play with “romance” and the characters, but it's a dead end. No guides, no YT gameplays, and the project seems dead here. It's a pity, didn't like the characters at all, but the game could have been interesting of all the stuff.

Talking about the game, as a visual novel it's ok. Not too much text, which i really appreciated, and the performance is quick and gets to the point without nonsense. Art is ok, some facial expressions are out of place. Music is ok too.

Not too much. 4/10

Lost & Found

short, but nice game.

Most short horror games are usually doomed to failure for two reasons: first, the action takes place in a single setting, where the player goes crazy opening and closing drawers, moving things and going around and around in circles. The second is even worse, and that is to repeat the first step to get the 35 possible endings. Honestly, it's a pain in the ass.

However, this little shit game is great. It lasts very little time, there are a variety of scenarios, only a couple of endings and best of all, it hooks you to keep playing. The beginning of the game can get a bit boring (because you think that everything is going to unfold in the cabin), but then you discover that it does not, and that you have to explore. I loved that.

On the other hand ... there is not much sense in the story. The questions pile up. Who is actually the grandmother? Why did she do what she did? What does the rabbit have to do with all this? And why are the endings the way they are? The satisfaction at the end of the game comes more from having taken the 2 endings quickly than from the story itself. Also, are we sure a 5-year-old kid can do all of that?

The Room

Short and boring game.

Ngl, this game has nothing to offer either to catch me to replay it and get the rest of the endings. No way. Theme's very basic, feeling all so sudden and out of the box like giving the MC an overpowered level of "ace" or "genius" of the game topic. The game's story is very linear, nothing scares, neither the blood nor the dreadful story of the satanist. Everything feels very fast and the action is tightly linked to a predictable story. Art and sound feel the same as the rest, seedy.

Mirror Mirror

Sometimes interesting, sometimes cringe, "Mirror, Mirror" is a horror game which only can be proud of its own plot.

A catchy and enjoyable short game of about an hour more or less where you, as a beta school boy in love with the ideal girl, would be taken without any advice to a total and strange "sacrifice". The premise is good, and the progress of the story is so well-made that you want to find out what the heck is going on in this town (?).

Apart from that, the rest of the game has a very poor quality: Gigantic scenarios, very bad (even ugly) texturing, lot of bugs, vomitive art, a very bad design of the levels and, to conclude, three awful endings. I'm not aiming for a happy ending, but at least, give us a convincing explanation of all the events. I can only draw conclusions, but I think that an unpleasant game with a salvageable story, it must end in the best of ways.

Would I personally recommend this game? Well, for me and being totally honest, I had a good time, but there's a ton of crap on top of it. Do what you think.

The God of Crawling Eyes

The game has a very simple idea, it combines a teen-horror adventure with some satanic religious cult, all mixed in an American institute. For the 20 minutes, it does what it should, so, there isn't anything bad with that.

Overall, I would say it's cool, having fun with some puzzles meanwhile trying to uncover what's going on. Also and remarkable at the same time, it feels comfortable to re-play it if you want.

E.T.A.: 20-30 minutes (2 endings approached)

A MidHorror Night

Terrible game with 0 immersive atmosphere. It's all wrong. Some tracks do not match with what we are playing, the objects are given to us just because, there is no other explication (like the X-ray glasses, who the hell brings them outside?), and there are events with no logical explanation (we seem to be in other dimension and we can call to some friend? Also, do not forget the ridiculous dialogue with her).

I couldn't reach the end because at some point I have to help a girl and I supposed to have something with me that could help her, but it's not my case and so, there is nothing useful in the room so, dead-end i guess.

Anyway, the only thing I liked was the beautiful scenarios since we started.

DROPPED

Room Escape

short, easy, and funny. Good combination if you look for spending some free time. Not the best out there, but it's ok I guess, although
hiding a key in the toilet could be a little "freaky".
