What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

The only consistent game I've been playing for a while now is Dragon Quest 11. It started as a pretty mediocre/okay experience, because it pretty much is vanilla jRPG the game. But then I saw a review of it by Kotaku and it made me realize how I should be playing it. You have to chill through the game. Just enjoy your time with it and not try to hurry forward to the "cool parts". So yeah, I've really liked it since. The game grew on me.

Also playing it on PC, so I have a mod with symphonic soundtrack instead of the NES-style bit music. The whole game got a classical feel to it thanks to the music.

@PhantasmaX, Sounds good. I just read an interview by the developers of Bloodstained and they had the principle that the devs should be able to defeat all the bosses with the weakest weapon without taking any damage. That way the game never became about grinding or getting levels. Seems like you got something similar going on. And yeah the art is all done by me. I also make the soundtrack (although heavily relying on samples to mix together) so the development isn't exactly super fast.

And cograts on getting funded Garbamesh! It was a no-brainer really. The game looks too good!

@PhantasmaX, looking great! Really intense! Your battle system in general is really intense :D

@Darken, Loving the artstyle once again! Now that I've seen more screens, I started to make connections to the Blame! manga. Dunno if it really is any influence for your game, but there is something similar there I think.

Anyways, I released this little teaser trailer for my new game:

Blind, That's gorgeous! It's pretty much flawless tbh. I wouldn't care about the castle top perspective issue. That's typical jRPG shenanigans that has occured in most of the 2D games since the dawn of time.

Been waiting for this!

@Garbamesh, This looks so epic! There is just no way you couldn't reach the kickstarter goals with everything you guys got to show. I'll make sure to support the kickstarter too!

I'm testing out a tileset here, the scene itself is based on a nightmare of mine.

btw, does anyone have suggestions on how to take screenshots on windows? I've been using mac for so long and now on windows I noticed that the screenshots I take with prt sc-key don't retain the resolution....

I tried out Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. It really is a Castlevania game in all regards. The floaty controls, lovingly crafted backgrounds and the OST stand out to me immediately after just 40 min of playing. At first I thought the fact that there are no Belmonts or Dracula would bother me, but it might actually make the experience more fresh this way. Let's see how the actual castle is whenever I get there...

@PhantasmaX, Oh well it's still pretty impressive imo haha. My own dev progress is so slow compared to that even if I put tons of hours into it. The menu does look alike, but it's definitely got more professional look to it now. I'm really liking the how the combat looks. Zapping around and all that. I'd imagine FFXV look like that if it was 2D :D

Woah there's some really impressive stuff here!
@momeka I absolutely love everything about that video. Game over screen is godly too. Please tell me you have a project page up so I can follow it!

@PhantasmaX I'm really liking the inventory system. Everything seems well balanced and clear, but still you've managed to get some visual flair too. Shop looks great too. Have you really only been working on that for 4 weeks? :O

@Darken Your game looks super moody. What engine are you using? I really love the static filter effects you got. Your game kinda reminds me of Blame! for some reason...

@UPRC Everything looks really good in that screenshot, but I'm not the biggest fan of the font used. It's something that might grow on you though.
