I seriously doubt the party is going to kill him after the world is saved. If anything, my best hope is that he's forced to sacrifice himself for the greater good at some point.

You wouldn't increase your chances of saving the world just because of one - not even completed - rape?
There are multiple reasons why I don't want Siddon around. So, I'm just going to list the bullet points in no order of particular importance.
- He's guilty of backstabbing the heroes on three separate occasions
- He's an attempted rapist
- The woman he attempted to rape is another member of the party
- And he's tried to kill the heroes on at least one occasion
- And he shares the same element and thus spells with another member of the party so he doesn't bring anything interesting or unique to the team

Actually, the game does get around to explaining why the dragons are important, but it takes the game over 20 hours to get around to that point. Sort of like it takes around 30 hours to reach the point in the game where you actually get the ability to change your party members.
And one of the party members your forced to take and use in this game is an attempted rapist. Or he probably would have attempted to rape the woman in question if he hadn't been caught before things could get that far.
And, I suppose it does raise an interesting question about the morals/ethics of the heroes if they'd allow such a person to join their party.

The Falling Leaves Review
Are you sure you feel comfortable giving a game a one star review based on partial notes and your memories from over three years ago?
Honestly, I'm quite comfortable giving this game a one. Since, I clearly remember going into multiple rants about how "The Falling Leaves" only attempt at building up a relationship between Masgard and Nociel is that they blush upon meeting each other. A factoid that is really hard for me to forget, because this is one of the few games I can think of where the main character is gay.
And, I took a quick look at a few snippets of my Let's Play for this game in order to get a feel for what the combat system was like. Which allowed me to get in a few glances at some of the maps as well.

"I've never played Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm, but now I'm curious to so I can see how they pulled it off."
I've done a Let's Play for that game. Though, I did miss a few of the random characterization scenes that pop up when you complete random quests for certain townspeople.
And, if you'd rather play the game yourself then watch someone else. I'd recommend on saving up some of your rarer items since you need to complete every mission with a green boot next to it in order to get the good ending.
As far as the narrative went. They probably pulled it off just as well or a bit worse then you did. After all, while Atelier Iris 3 does have a larger cast of side characters to develop. It also has to deal with being a full length RPG as well. Albeit, it does have a better battle system to help carry it. As well as the relative freedom to mod your own gear through the power of synthesis.
And an insane super boss in the form of the super mini puni. So yeah, the game's ultimate super boss is a pacifier sucking slime.

It's not that big of a deal. It's not like I'm really interested in picking up any new games from this event anyway. After all, I've already got a hundred plus games on steam that I've never touched.
