RMN Christmas Card 2020

I asked Santa for one thing this Christmas and it still isn’t here!!!

(Unless...you're deliberately stalling on purpose to release this after January 1st so it's eligible for next year's Misaos, just in case you don't happen to release anything, or finish anything, by next year. If so...you clever b*stard, you...)

They took the misao name away just when I started coming back! I'm appalled I didn't even know about it until it was pretty much gone!

This is why you gotta hang around more often or you’ll lose whatever street cred that you once had.

And I believe that you still have one Misao category named after you: “The Star Stealing Prince Award,” given to the game with the best original assets. So your legacy isn't entirely gone.

I do have something else in the wings while I work on this. I just really wanted to do a visual novel first to prove I could and I'm definitely far enough in development to know I'll release it. Hopefully early 2021 (I wanted to put that for a target date but it only lets me put actual dates. Too absolute!).

- Oooo...mystery project!

And, yeah, it sucks that you can’t put in something like Early 2021, or Q1 2021, when it comes to the Target Completion Date. A lot of people have been suggesting implementing that feature for years now and nothing has been done about that to this date… *sigh* Oh well.

The Featured Game Thread

Maybe it was originally marked incomplete but Lysander must have changed it to complete at some point when he came back briefly a few years ago. Maybe that’s why it hasn’t been featured up to this point.

Well, I think the preference for Feature Game would be more to complete games. Which, as far as I am aware, A Blurred Line is not. Which may be it's own tragedy.

But…technically...isn’t it???

The gamepage is marked as complete. And it’s technically a completed game, where you can finish it like any other game, completely stand alone. The only thing here is it just ends on a cliffhanger for an ending that hints of a possible follow-up to the story, or a sequel, in a Line’s End (which, of course, we never got.)

I think something like that should be fine as long as the game is marked as complete (which it is) and you can complete it from the start of the game all the way until the end of it (which you can). A cliffhanger for an ending shouldn’t be the final nail in the coffin to be considered for a featured spot, as a lot of standalone games have that in them, and that's fine.

Plus, on the gamepage’s description, Lysander mentions that:

What was originally one game has been split into two due to the release of RMXP, so I'm marking ABL 2.1 as 'Complete.' The second half of the game will be released in RMXP as LINE'S END, and will have a separate entry on RMN.

So…technically, A Blurred Line is the first part of the story as its own standalone game and Line’s End was supposed to be the second part of the story as its own standalone game. They were attended to be two separate entries, two separate games.

So even know we never got the second entry in the series with a Line's End (although...you never know, stranger things HAVE happened before), the first game is complete and more than enough fits the criteria of getting a featured spot someday. I mean...it doesn't have to be right now, for next month, of course, but it should still be considered for the future, as it was one of the original greats of RPG Maker yesteryear.

And as for Beetle Ninja getting the next month’s featured spot…well…I haven’t tried as of yet, so I can’t really comment on whether it’s a good game or not. But from what I’ve heard from some of those who have already played it recently, it’s apparently a very good game and a possible sleeper pick for this year’s Misao’s. So I guess I can’t complain with the mob rule on this one, lol.

The Featured Game Thread

I would imagine that January is going to be a month that we’ll probably be featuring one of the many possible Misao contenders that hasn’t had the opportunity to get featured as of yet, such as Moonsong: First Verse, Phileas’ Mirror (my pick), or something like Silver Night’s Crusaders.

I know that the real heavy hitters, like Weird And Unfortunate Things Are Happening, Exile’s Journey, and Therapist: Mind Manager have already been featured throughout the year. So maybe a spotlight on one of the other possible contenders would be a great fit for this month, just in time for the actual voting phase.

Now if not that, and we decide to go with another classic from the past, then I would DEFINITELY consider A Blurred Line. …How the hell has THAT not been featured as of yet!? It just seems like such a tragedy that it hasn't been featured after all of these years - but Sanith did before it!?!?!? Aw, man...

Merry Statmas!

Hard to believe that I have over 1000+ files in my locker and yet six people have a lot more junk in theirs than me. (I thought I was the ultimate pack rat.)

And UPRC STILL hasn’t passed me in the overall makerscore standings as of yet!? H-How...!? He was only three points below me a little while ago and now I’m sixty-four points ahead of him and I haven’t done diddly-squat in a LONNNGGG time... (Unless that had something to do with him taking Blackmoon Prophecy III off of the site, that might explain it.)

And speaking of makerscore...yeah...I’m not doing so hot in the overall makerscore standings as of late... I think I was in the upper 40’s for a long while and now I’m only three spots away before completely falling out of the Top 50... I guess this is what happens when you’ve become completely complacent after a while, lol.

Well...I’m hoping in the new year to start getting off my ass again and start contributing to the site more besides hockey pools and such. It would be a shame to have everything end like this.

RMN’s new bot protection be like

Although I do have to admire their tenacity, though. They sure do find a lot of clever ways to work around our amazing security system.

RMN’s new bot protection be like

Waking up in the wee hours thinking you heard a whistle- "Who's there!?... Zzzzz"

Now this is why you should let your dog handle these types of things. While your fast on your ass, he or she is more worried about the potential burglar coming in to steal his or her own squeaky toy.

Although, one of my dogs, when I was a teenager, would usually just peer his head up, no matter how loud the sound was, and usually just go back to sleep within seconds, lol. I don't really think he gave a shit about too much in life...nor if we got robbed or not.
