ANIMEBRYAN'S PROFILE

I had to "Old Yeller" my old laptop, a laptop that has given me a decade of entertainment, became the ultimate retro console thanks to emulators, and has allowed me to pursue my dream of being a game designer with both RPG Maker & SMBX. Now, ALL of that work, is gone. This is not how my 40th birthday should be. I am dead inside now. I just don't give a shit about anything anymore ;_;

author=kentonaauthor=Animebryanhttps://rpgmaker.net/users/Animebryan/media/author=kentonaI have no idea what that means. So is it based on number of games I submitted to instead of individual videos?
I count entries in the media table grouped by user ID
count the number of lines in this list.
I see. I came 2 games short of being on the list. And Super Talking Time Bros. 1 & 2 count as 1 game, that sucks. At least I can qualify by the end of October when I start doing my Halloween LP's Like the Mario's Mansion series or some of the horror RPGs like the One Night trilogy, Blank Dream & The Witch's House.
Stage List
I'm almost done with it now. I just finished the layout for the 8th & final area of the level & now I just need to add finishing touches with graphics, deal with anymore Run-time error 6 BS (apparently its not just the block limit, I seem to be hitting the background limit too), and then do 10 timed runs to know where to set the time limit. It's a long level, but trust me, its an awesome level!
(It's designed to be a 'speed-run' level, so it's length isn't a problem)
@Solitayre: I'd be glad to join in on the 5th Mario's Mansion event. I've been wanting to make a complex ghost house level but haven't had an opportunity to do so yet. In fact I just downloaded a bunch of other SMBX games to LP in the future, including the first 4 Mario's Mansion games & plan on doing LPs of them in October.

I agree with the notion that a 'skip level' feature makes no sense & just wastes the level itself. I suffer the same problem when making my own levels. If a level is so hard that not even a pro SMBX player or even the creator can't beat it in around 30 or so tries, then it's too hard & you need to tone down the difficulty. There's no need to make the player rage so hard that they either; give up on SMBX entirely or just for a month, or rage enough to throw their controller at something (I speak from experience).
As for my The Yoshi Relay Race level, it's taking longer than usual. I got carried away with the length of some later areas & wound up getting a 'Run-time error 6' Overflow (too many blocks). Seems like the debugger's displayed limit of 20K blocks is in fact a lie. It's actually 16,384.

What's the exact requirement to get on that 'Submitted more than 15 media' list? Because I just counted all my posted Let's Play videos for games like the Super RMN series, Last King of Hyrule & Super Talking Time Bros (1 video) & they all add up to 54 videos, which should tie me with NicoB.

I took a peek at Kloe's stage, and while I haven't played it yet, um...there is quite a bit of work to be done. It's okay, though. We were all new at this once, and I'm here to help people learn and improve. You'll get your feedback alongside everyone else later, but for now, I'll just say it suffers from lacking a sense of place. By that I mean, it looks like a black void with traps floating in it, which is very rom-hacky and not so immersive. Think less about raw challenge and more of how this place might look if you were standing in it. Use aesthetics and hazards that compliment each other, and avoid things that appear too unnatural or abstract.
Speaking of which . . . It's time for another one of my Let's Test videos!
Burny Burny Cave (W4) by Kloe:
I couldn't beat it. I got trolled near the end. Since Hali beat me to the critique of the level, I have nothing to say that hasn't been pointed out already.
Is Solitayre's Mushroom Underground a newly finished level or is that an old one? My short-term memory isn't what it used to be anymore.

author=Kloeauthor=AnimebryanIt is but it's not very good... haha... I'm not very experienced at this... if you play it, pls don't kill me afterwards. >.>
Btw Hali, is Kloe's Burny Burny Cave finished? Because it doesn't say placeholder or unfinished. If its finished, I'll do a Let's Test of it tonight.
I'm honored you'd do a Let's test of it though!! :D
P.S I was going to add a puzzle maze related to Purple Yoshi's power to break blocks with a pound, but I ran out of time.
You know you can still make revisions of levels, right? If you want to add that puzzle maze feature you can still make the changes, unless you're too busy with other things to deal with.
This is actually my first time making quality levels for an actual game too. The only levels I made where a 21 room pipe maze where colored switch blocks & pipe colors were the gimmick of solving how to complete the maze, and a Battle Tower level where you fight in 6 battles either against a group of normal enemies or against bosses. It even had 3 branching paths for 3 difficulties.

Video Feedback for Deathtrap Industries Inc. (W8) by Isrieri:
The difficulty is too extreme, even for a world 8 level. It seriously needs to be toned down several notches!

Castles Masterpiece Set 2
Stage List
author=halibabicaThe video is just to show what the level is like, since you were curious about what I meant by 'Catering to 2 Players'. Out of the 8 main areas in the level, I just finished the 4th area & I need to run 3 more timed runs to see where to set the timer. So I'm basically halfway done. It should be fully playable & submitted by Monday (for anyone else who wants to test it). It's a level that starts out somewhat easy & picks up in difficulty rather quickly.
I'll check out the relay race when I get to it on the list. Something about going in blind is important for testing purposes. ;3
Also, hey, we got one of our missing levels in. Isrieri's Deathtrap Industries Inc. has been added to the list. From what I'm told, it's really, really hard (unless you know "the tricks").
It was a rough weekend, but I'll get back up to speed with my testing and analyzing tomorrow. I'm no slouch, but sometimes it just can't be helped.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to doing a Let's Test of Isrieri's Deathtrap Industries Inc. tonight.
