I had to "Old Yeller" my old laptop, a laptop that has given me a decade of entertainment, became the ultimate retro console thanks to emulators, and has allowed me to pursue my dream of being a game designer with both RPG Maker & SMBX. Now, ALL of that work, is gone. This is not how my 40th birthday should be. I am dead inside now. I just don't give a shit about anything anymore ;_;

Naval Piranha's Bog feedback: It’s still possible to get stuck between the underwater Naval Buds and be forced to take a hit. You can alleviate this with clever use of bridge tiles for the first set. The second is a little trickier; I think the best solution is to lower the green switch and put a bridge above it, and put a one-way pipe out of the middle.
I'm having trouble imagining how that would be arranged with this setup. Think you could elaborate more with this pic?

Final Fantasy Discovery
If its anything like Blackmoon Prophecy than this is something definitely worth looking forward to. However, I'm not fond of the idea of scraping the world map exploration aspect. That's one of the best things about old school RPGs, exploration!

Here's my Let's Test of Burt the Unabashed's Fort:
And here is my Let's Test of my Barrel Volcano v2:
I'll try to apply those new changes to Naval Piranha's Bog over the weekend. Seems complicated as hell though.

Here's a Let's Test of my Naval Piranha's Bog v2:
I was going to show Hali's Burt the Unabashed's Fort but since he mentioned that he updated it, I'll just test the newer version tonight & upload it tomorrow.
Also, if anyone wants me to do a Let's Test for one of their levels (if any has been newly updated recently) just let me know.

Apart from some minor decorating and possibly the inclusion of more coins here and there, the World 1 boss stage is done! I'd greatly appreciate it if you folks would give it a whirl and slam me with your feedback. It's only fair, right?
I'll be sure to do a Let's Test of it tonight & have it uploaded sometime tomorrow.
Also, you made some mistakes on the Unused sprites for my Naval Piranha's Bog:
1. You listed Effect 30, the breaking effect of the blue SMW throwing blocks but forgot to list the block itself, Block 45.
2. You listed Block 109 as an used sprite but that sprite is the muncher sprite & it's far from unused. Even though I removed the ones under the 2nd green switch block there's still a few areas that still use them.
The Last King of Hyrule

It's fun making games in engines where they don't belong. It shouldn't be avoided. It's a good exercise to work within restrictions, but still make a solid game. Plus this is one of the few engines well suited for community development. You can gripe about it now, but it's not like it was a waste of time.
Unless you code your own engine or learn complex programming languages, you will always be using an engine that has limits and prevents you from doing things perfectly the way you want to.
RPG Maker MV's limitations are definitely proof of that!

All things considered, I think we did well. Our premise was "make a Link game in SMBX" and this is how it came out. It just doesn't appeal in the circles it seems like it would.
The fact that SMBX has Link as a playable character & that SMBX's physics engine is similar to Zelda 2's is what allowed a Zelda themed SMBX game possible. Let's not forget that Zelda 2 is in fact the ONLY side-scrolling Zelda game ever made & a lot of Zelda fans considered Zelda 2 to be the 'black sheep' of the series because of that.
The Last King of Hyrule

A Youtube LPer who does gameplay videos with a focus on analysis just did a Let's Play of Last King of Hyrule, plus an analysis video and a video review! In case he doesn't post them on rpgmaker.net, I'm linking them here, they're pretty good.
It's a shame that he's not very familiar with SMBX itself, otherwise he would have a appreciation & understanding of the development of this game like we do.

Yoshi Relay Race: The individual sections themselves are okay, but could use some toning down. I really struggled with the Slip Drip section to the point that I rage quit (and I don’t do that often). I’ll say for now that the difficulty needs lowered in general and give more specific advice after that happens
Aside from the Slip Drip section, which others need toning down? Were any of the first 4 too hard?

This feedback seems very familiar. I think I fixed most of these things last time you said them (Did that happen???). Either way, is it imperative that we work on these now? Secret Santa and exams are coming up.
We're moving into the third phase of the project, wherein I will make my own stages. If you have placeholders, now is the time to finish them! If I complete my work before you're done, your stages may be thrown out. I'm estimating it will take me about two months to make my levels (as there are fourteen of them). I'll also be slowed by further testing and reviewing changes, so there's plenty of time (and no excuses).
It seems we'll have plenty of time, although the fact that Hali went from a snail's pace at testing levels to speeding through the 2nd half extremely fast makes really wonder how much time we really have.
