[Rm2k3] Anyone know what font the official version uses?

Hm. So, this one does not appear to be what Official Rm2k3 uses. Whatever the official version uses, it isn't the same as whatever is in that link.

I also can't find where the font is actually installed, as it isn't in my font folder...

Thanks for the heads up on the font changing in the window skin section, I had forgotten about that.

[Rm2k3] Anyone know what font the official version uses?

Maybe this is obvious and right in front of my face, but I can't find it anywhere.

I probably will do that, but they'll be in the description on the right. This is mostly a screen real estate problem I think... and plus, I've always found it obnoxious in games when I have to learn new terms for basic items.

So I think what it'll ultimately say is something like... "Jogi Berries" and then a brief description of like... where they're grown and in what climate or something. But you can tell immediately from the item menu what it does.

I could also try to go with a smaller font, but I'm reluctant to do that.

[RM2K3] door with two pieces

So, the way I'd do it is have it like this... Create a map event, call it "Door Check" or something, then have each of your Door event call it.

If you want to make it so you add the piece based on which side you're standing on... (piece 1 goes on the left, piece 2 goes on the right), then you'd do the same thing, except make the conditional that checks if you have an item be on the door, instead of the "Door Check" event.

Yeah, I'll definitely change the font... Honestly, I'll probably just change everything to the default rm2k3 font for consistency. Oh, and you're right about the margins, I didn't even think about it, but it's obvious now that you've pointed it out. I've been staring at this thing too long...

R3P CMS WIP.

This shows how many items you have on you, and how many you have in storage. The text is a placeholder for now.

We'll have to see. This will be expensive and we'll need to secure funding to do it. This will actually be on our kickstarter, with a "here's what we can do..." picture of a more traditional battle system, then this beside it with a "but this is what we WANT to do..."

If we can get the money for it, this is very doable. I think. Probably.

... Yeah, probably.

Yeah, I actually think we might make enemy idle animations much simpler than this. I mean, nobody with a gun really bounces around like this, but they'd blink, and their weapon would probably falter just a bit now and then. A light touch may be the better way to go here. Not to speak for Caladium, but I am sure animating knees is tricky.

Here's a shot of R3P's battle system so far. Doesn't really show off the tactical elements we plan to add, but the graphics sure came together well.

Pixel Art here is by Caladium and the backdrop is by Fabio Fontes.

The foreground objects are too large for the sprites. And looking at it again, the thief's idle animation seems a little unnatural, I think. Time to do more pose-researching.

[Poll] Metroid Prime 4 To Open World or Not to Open World that is the question

Dudesoft, if you're just going to alter the definition of words to mean whatever you want, there's no point in this.

author=Metroid isn't open-world. It's an explorable dungeon with secrets, tricks, and challenges to overcome. There's an astronomical difference.

Let's change it to this. It's an explorable world with secrets, tricks, and challenges to overcome. An astronomical difference there ain't.

The fact is that open world games are not defined by "towers" and "collecting bits of bullshit," which is something you do in Metroid anyway. They're defined by having an open world, period. Pointing to trends and popular manifestations of open world games as though that's the only thing it can mean is silly.

I get that you've been made cynical by BotW and all, but just because open world games tend to use gimmicks you don't care for doesn't mean they have to. Like I said, you take Metroid Prime, make the world bigger, knock down the walls, have fewer linear paths and you basically have open world Metroid right there. You don't need "towers", you can still hide missile packs in clever ways, you still put powerups hidden in different places.

The trick would be making non-linear progression while still keeping the traditional powerups, and that may be where open world Metroid fails, and why I'm skeptical myself. But it isn't "towers".
