Muammar Gaddafi Defeated

I think this is horseshit, sure Gadaffi just lost the war, but I dont believe he died, they just need to calm down the situation in the world, with people rioting, protesting, economy crisis etc. etc. just look at those footages, they are laughable evidence.

As for me, I think it's quite admirable that the Libyan people, with some help of course, took it into their own hands to depose what really was a autocratic dictator. A lot of nations never really get out of the 'oppression/protest/get killed/repeat' stage of the game, and Libya really broke out of that wheel when they collectively decided to take action. I think time will tell how Libya fares under the NTC, but I think things are looking good.

Yes, yes, if you think admirable is to bomb the shit out of country, because thats how the only way USA can win a war since 1945. The only way because " rebels" won, is because USA poke their dick into the situation, because Gaddafi had pots of gold. OSN, USA, NATO doesnt care if there is some dictator, they dont care if someone is oppressed, they dont care if you are dying, they just care about their greed, jeez and if anyone believes they are "peacekeepers" than they are really really really naive, so naive that they are stupid . And how in the hell you can have peace trough war, thats like putting out fire with alcohol...

I don't get you people, everyday you meet with corruption, with bullshit, with slackers, thief's, robbers, idiots, brainwashing and yet you cant apply it on other countries. Its the same shit over and over and over again, thousand years of deceive, treachery, falsehood, greed... do you still believe politics arent corrupted, that bunch of rich cripple fagots aren't hiding away with stolen money in big villas guarded by some bodyguards *cough* police *cough* , because you can just march in, break their necks and take your stolen money back. Man if some politicians aren't corrupt-able or greedy, they get rid of them one or the other way. That applies for almost everything where is money involved or do you live in some kind of fairytale where everyone cares about other and something as greed, backstabbing and vileness doesn't exist ?

Hawt design.

Most loved most hated RM games

Most loved: Necropolis-I cant put more emphasis on this, The way series, Legend of Philosophers stone, Three the hard way ,Heros realm-only if there weren't random battles it would be perfect and there are some I cant remember

Most hated: Definitely Leo and Leah, In my opinion its seriously overrated, combat was mediocre DBS,only thanks to some "innovations", jokes were a joke, puzzles felt obligatory, repeated pattern of explore, puzzles, boss fight. And lets not forget the storyline...lovesick crap, it wanted me to throw up. The graphics were nice, but yet again they were rip and music...horrible, except for some parts.Thank god it was so short. But I really liked the bug costume thingy.

Your abandoned game ideas?

Asylum:questionable sanity
This was my first project I planned.
It was about girl named Lucy Lindberg, I still remember the name, daughter of prominent couple from high noble circles. This couple decided to have a son, so their lineage would be saved and could advance even further in social ranking, but they gave life to daughter. Angered, they atleast hoped that she would be vile, charming and beautiful, so they could manipulate their way up. But despite their best effort, she was sweet, nice girl with high morals and she could see supernatural. But then luck smiled upon the couple and they had a boy. Fearing that Lucy, as nice she was, could thwart their intrigues or even ashame their family, they devised a plan, misusing her gift of seeing the unseeable, they contacted family friend. Headmaster of local asylum, they declared she was insane and locked her away, using their connections, they wiped out all traces of her existence. They succeeded, Lucy tightly locked in asylum with no idea who she is, their son started to become vile, cold person, they were exalted with joy. But after many years, Lucys brother, high ranking officer, would get an anonymous letter, with evidence that he has sister. His parents would deny that they had daughter, Lucys brother not believing them ventures to find her. Then you start as Lucy, at the asylum.
I wanted to make half the game as Lucy and half the game as her brother,I planned some twists and turns. It should have RM2k3 DBS, CMS, sidequests, lots of minigames all this shit. But, I failed because I didnt had the knowledge to do CMS, minigames etc. etc. I may return to this game, only if I will have time on my hands.

DLC..

DLC- "Hmm, we are swimming in money, lets find a way to make even moar money... lets make a game and take some stuff from the game and sell it separately, wait lets make them "cheap" so people will say that its darn cheap and they must have it, then another one comes out and again its cheap, so why not buy it and again and again and again and AGAIN. Then if the customer is smart enough,he will see that he just threw away 3x of games worth, others are steady income. They will fall for it,again. "

Its like I would buy a hamburger, I would get the hamburger but it would be missing the bun or the meat and they would tell you " You can buy other parts of it for even MOAR MONEY, ISN'T THAT AWESOME!!!"
Its the epitome of greediness, and sadly suckers are falling for it...if people wouldn't be so stupid, then there wouldn't be DLC or any kind of cheap marketing bullcrap. Its like with everything that becomes profitable, when money is involved, shit gets real.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

Really nice lezales. I don't know but it reminds me of dungeon master 2...thats good by the way. One little tip, don't be afraid to use contrast, mainly on metals.

Would this work on RM ?

@Max Mcgee
Yes, I tried to do big ambitious project, but yet I failed in the process, because I had the lack of knowledge of almost everything, but thanks to experimenting in the ambitious game and some minor side stuff, I have some knowledge to successfully complete the game i am trying to make...I hope. I know you want to share your experience, wich I don't doubt, but if he won´t try it, he won´t learn a thing.

@Darken
I should have wrote it more specific...I meant big as more features like CMS ,CBS, more dungeons etc., I didn't meant the length. And by small I meant everything default, no experimenting, just rips, rtp. Sure you will learn more by doing a small game with lot of custom stuff, rather than doing a lengthy game full of default and rips. The problem was defining what is small and what is big.

Would this work on RM ?

So what if it is ambitious. To hell with this self-defeating attitude, its poisonous and annoying as hell,so what if he does or doesn't complete it ? Its the path that counts. I would rather fail at making a big game, where I LEARN something trough the process, then make some crappy small game no one will ever play, but I made it and learned nothing at all. Its not about the goal, its about the path. So go for it, but really you need to get more inspired.

Skill acquisition

The idea of this topic is to let you people express your opinion, wich will be highly taken into account, on mine designer choice.

The problem is "leveling up". I personally hate grinding, killing monster for experience just to level up, so I thought "why not ditch this whole old gimmick, in order of something more entertaining for player". Everyone knows, that one of the basic things we love in RPGs is getting faster, stronger, better. So leaving the whole concept of leveling up, in my opinion is ludicrous. So I thought " I love getting stronger, but I hate killing monsters in order to get better at almost everything...its somewhat overused and stupid." Some games such as fallout, baldurs gate, guild wars, gothic, elder scrolls and such inspired me, I took what I loved about "leveling up" and ditched what I hated about it. And came up with mine own "system".
This "system" includes:

- No levels, yes no levels because in reality the idea of you don't have level high enough to take this book/ into your hand is retarded. Ofcourse everyone likes that shiny number that says you are stronger, but in my opinion actions are louder than words, so making your character stronger subtly could work really fine or even better, again in my opinion.

- Fallout style attributes, the system with 9999999 strength is same old same old, and boring, sure you still have other systems, but they are too overcomplicated so they miss the fun factor, for me. I want to walk the middle way, not too complicated, but not too plain, I personally like skill combinations, skills that take brainstorming to use properly, micromanaging, but I hate overcomplicated stuff like in Dungeons and dragons like games. Using overly complicated tables, some brain numbing math algorithms, 2d3+4k8/n=5x4.58645 damage. I want to play a game, not solve math problems...and lets not forget usage of randomness. Sure random stuff happens in real life, but ussually in games its pissing me off. You are big brute with 2 handed badass sword, you are facing giant troll, you attack this giant troll and you miss or that rat has too high level to hit...like sorry but that is utter failure of logic.

-Simple yet complicated skills and combat, I dont want, as mentioned before, complicated damage formulas, I want to keep them plain and simple, but there will be factors as armor, resistances etc. but NO MISS and nothing complicated. Armor will be simple, for instance you have 5 armor enemy deals 15 damage, armor soaks up 5 damage and enemy deals 10 damage, simple, effective. I want to leave miss for good, I want to add evade, but unless that character has "evade trait", yes I will add fallout like traits in game, there wont be chance to miss the enemy.

If you dont want to read the "prologue", skip here.

The main dilemma with this "system" I currently have is with skillpoints. I have almost everything thought out except this, so I would like some advice. I have thought out 3 different paths. I want to make this game replayable, so I will be trying to make different choices, different paths and approaches to problems, for instance I want to make a village that is constantly pillaged by bandits, you would have 3 choices join the militia and fight off bandits, or join bandits and ransack the village. Who you join will affect your karma and mainly what you can learn, for instance when you join militia, you will get better armor, some combat skills and good karma. If you will join the bandits you will get skills that bandits would use, like traps, throwing knifes, you would get alot of gold and negative karma. Or you can just do some quests for both sides and leave them alone.
But here we come where I don't know how to make the skillpoints system. I have thought out 3 possible ways:

1. Classical skill tree
Instead of leveling, you will get skillpoints for completing quests, minigames, wich you can spend on different new active skills, passive skills etc. etc. you know the drill. But the problem with this is that adding special story related skills would be...complicated. I cant miss with a skill tree.

2. Leveling up trough game
This is what I mainly thought off. The more game you play,no skill tree, the more choices you get, the choices you do end up giving you different play style, as I mentioned those bandits before. This could be interesting, but there are many problems, like balancing would be really hard. You would complete a quest for those bandits, the quest giver will reward you with skill, weapon, etc. etc. the main problem what I don't like is that you wont have freedom of becoming what you want.

3. Golden middle road
I think combining these two will be the best, it would compliment each other very well, in my opinion. Adding the skill tree with different paths and adding different "classes" depending on the paths you take in game, could make interesting play styles. It looks nice on paper, but how will it look in game ?

Will this mutant work or should I do it the old fashioned way ? Should I experiment or just follow the used formulas ?

Discuss.
