Due to situations beyond his control, Ben has more idle time than he should have! "Hands" are the devil's playground and as such Ben is often drawing or diddling around in RPG-maker VX Ace to give his life a semblance of actual meaning.
A social introvert, Ben is NOT a social butterfly! However, he still desires to create forms of expression which incite genuine emotions, raucous laughter, and occasional deep thoughts. (Though often enough he misses that mark and ends up offending everyone instead!)

well I can download your game just fine
And apparently "octet-stream file" is just a generic name for any file type that a web browser can't open in the browser and has to download instead
so
he's dumb and probably quit halfway through the download
I'd hesitate to call anyone dumb (unless I know for sure) but it did seem like a case of someone trying to make a toaster work by sticking a fork in it. Metaphorically speaking of course. lol.
Now I can get back to more important things....like porn and videogames! Yes, I live like a king I tell you.

what the hell is an "octet stream file"
It's hip internet slang for trafficking drugs! Just kidding. I have no idea. lol.
I'm guessing it is a file on a streaming site like mega upload or game front where you can download stuff.

Have you tried to use either winzip or winrar instead of making a compressed file? It's pretty easy to do and might work instead.
I did make a zip version but was surprised it was as large as the standard compressed version.
However, that was before I updated the demo again.
But I would not mind offering the zip version as an alternative. Just might take me a bit to set it up.

It's not an OS thing, it's just either you not finishing the upload or him not finishing the download. One of the two of you is being dumb! If someone else is able to download it, then there's a 99% chance it's him.
That's putting it bluntly but honestly. Marrend suggested shun is trying to use Opera to download it and Opera cannot read octet stream files. So that's likely the issue right there. Not that makes shun a dumb ass. Hell, I don't even know what Opera is so if anyone is mentally challenged it's me! (On second thought, "wisdom" and "intellect" are different things. So I would argue I'm "ignorant" instead. At least ignorant people can learn. lol.)

author=Marrendauthor=shunIs it just me, or does this look like he's trying to get Opera itself open the file after downloading it? If this is what is happening, Opera can't open "octet stream" files, would give an error message, and summarily delete the file.
This is my best guess.
*Edit: Oh yeah! I said something about checking this game out.
That could be the case. Seems to hold up under scrutiny. By my own methods I can download it just fine.
But yeah, check it out if you want to but there's no rush. lol.

No. It should be fine to play on any current OS, since it's the newest version. You will have to include all the RTP files, or your friend will have to have the RTP installed in order to play the game, but otherwise there should be no issue.
He says when he attempts to download it he doesn't get the full file. Yet when I downloaded it and someone else did we were able to get the whole thing.
It's frustrating,Lib! Sadly, I don't know what I can do about it.
Does operating system type effect VX Ace?
So here's a hypothetical. Say a friend has windows 7 and I have windows vista. When I compress the game I use the usual rpgmaker vx ace method. When my friend goes to download my game he cannot.
My question is, is rpgmaker vx ace effected by the operating system? Aka, if I compress a game with windows vista as my os is there a possibility someone with windows 7 might not be able to download my game?
This is based on an ongoing discussion I'm having with shun. No matter how much shun tries to download my game he comes up short. I'm trying to find a way to help but so far I've been pretty clueless!

author=shunauthor=BrokenH70 download ninety percent was my attempts. Download Safari by a file of 1KB and can not be read by Windows 7.author=shunAgain, your problem is very specific. I was actually hoping I'd encounter the same problem so I could work on a way to fix it but alas, I did not and I downloaded my game just fine.
I tried with all browsers and none can download the game.
I appreciate your persistence but I could download my own game just fine.(And others have reported the same) In the future I could put it up somewhere else like mega-upload to see if it's better to download from there. Beyond that I don't know what else I can do,shun. Sorry!
PS: For the record, I'm running windows vista but I don't know if that would effect rpgmaker vx ace itself. However, maybe when I compress the game it does it in such a way that's vista friendly but not windows 7 friendly.
Rainbow Nightmare: Libra
I'm sorry you had a tough time on kick-starter but I'm glad you've decided to trudge on anyway. You have a neat & original art style so don't let that talent go to waste, ace!
Plans for the near future as well as the here and now!
Locke
1. There will be no new heroes so that's secure!
2. The starting levels of each hero are likely to remain the same.
3. There might be some changes to the preexisting text dialogue boxes. (Aka spelling checks and the like)
4. For one hero I added a new power when he reaches a certain level. Will that effect anything? You suggested it might so perhaps I should just leave it out.
5. Variables & switches will remain constant. However, new variables and switches will be added later.
6. A chest was added in the hero's home but all the items therein were consumables, not actual gear.
