Due to situations beyond his control, Ben has more idle time than he should have! "Hands" are the devil's playground and as such Ben is often drawing or diddling around in RPG-maker VX Ace to give his life a semblance of actual meaning.
A social introvert, Ben is NOT a social butterfly! However, he still desires to create forms of expression which incite genuine emotions, raucous laughter, and occasional deep thoughts. (Though often enough he misses that mark and ends up offending everyone instead!)

No, Lovecraft was not a Nazi. In fact he despised them. He was a racist though, that is undeniably but more accurately he was an anglophile. he basically thought people of anglic descent were better than anybody else. He did lessen this view in his later life but it was still a big part of his writing :)
That's too bad. Other than that I really like the guy. Or I should say I at least like his works.
Organizing,downloading,the usual!

So, I see you finally got your game approved! :)
Now comes the challenge of me figuring out how to upload the bastard. lol. As I understand it, the "blue cube icon" in VX Ace is just the exe program, correct? Aka, it's the incorrect thingy majig to upload?
Back to feeling stupid!

So i kinda got inspired by the epic rap battles of history and decided to do something similar, but with metal. this is the first result:

I admire Poe but Lovecraft has inspired me much more! It's too bad Lovecraft might have been a racist but I doubt it was to the point he was a Nazi or attended Klan meetings. (Unless there's something I don't know?)
Broken's broken gallery!

Pretty much all of these women are EXTREMELY sexualized. Many of these do look fairly good though so bravo.
It's my Achilles heel. lol. Luckily not as much of my "perversion" and "artistic weaknesses" made it into the game itself. It's more difficult to corrupt sprites, heh. (Though some of the conversations get a bit awkward at times)
Compression issues
Imagine my joy when I read about 45 minutes ago my game was accepted! To say I'm grateful would be putting it mildly. Words alone cannot express how happy I am.
However, there are a few problems. First of all, I noticed even when my game demo is compressed without the RTP it's 352 MB. Having read posts on rmn, I know that is within regulations BUT that most people here prefer daintier download sizes.
So what are the culprits? Whelp, there are a lot of midis, custom sprites, custom character portraits, and one additional tile-set that was added. (The futuristic tileset enter-brain offered on their site to be precise. I bought it awhile ago.)
Do any of you know a way to safely compress all this down even more? Are there any audio converters that convert midis to Ogg vorbis format? Lastly will the present size dissuade most of you from downloading?
Admittedly, the demo is rather large. There's a tram, town, hospital, theater, dark forest dream sequence, and police station that are all 100% explorable. Aka, I'm not just giving you all a couple of interconnected rooms to diddle around in. lol.
I figured I would ask before putting the game up. Better to be safe than sorry!

author=Gourd_Claeauthor=BrokenHI've yet to welcome you, but this post made me want to give you an internet cookie. So, here ya go!author=SolarluneI am a sadist. But I'm also a sap for happy endings. As such my self inflicted dichotomy ensures I'll always be defeated by my own hand. It's kind of annoying!
I called it! You're a sadist!
Welcome to RMN.
Can't argue with that! Cookies are sweet!
Kentona
Actually a hub for games you can't find in many other places is nifty and a few shades of spectacular!
Nightowl
Yes! Yes! (Maneuvers the cigar around in my mouth while adjusting my monocle!)

Oh my city would absolutely LOVE you. ^^
Welcome aboard, son.
It's good to be here, dad! I think I'm getting hair on my chest! No,wait. That was just a random stray hair from somewhere else!
Joking aside, thanks for the friendly welcome!
Anxiously awaiting approval,heh!

This is the thread, right? http://rpgmaker.net/articles/272/
Hey BrokenH, don't worry, I'm awaiting approval too :) but since you said you don't know much about coding, this thread might help you a lot! And you can always copy the examples. Good luck
Sweet. I appreciate all the helpful advice! For the record I managed to change my page and text color. Small time silliness to most but I feel like celebrating!
Good luck getting approved, btw! For what it's worth I like your avatar character!
Why my game is still pending?
author=Archeia_Nessiahauthor=LockeZThis. So much. I approve.
Man. You should just put a notice that "your game will typically be reviewed within the next 30 days" when someone submits a game, so the entitled bitches will quit bothering you guys.
I don't think it's "entitlement". From the perspective of a personal creator I think it is a matter of excitement. Aka, you want to share your hard work with everyone right away. (And be honest, game makers work long hours too. I'm not saying mods and admins work less diligently but you have to show respect to both parties.)
The point is yeah, there is info that clearly states a game pending approval takes around 24 hours. That's the first thing people see when reading the rules of the site. There might be "additional rules" and a sub section but you can't be mad at people simply for being naive. (Or you can be but think back to how you were when you were practically a "noob" yourself.)
Personally I have a love/hate relationship over the concept of a panel of judges. On one hand, it ensures only quality products get the green light which is a very good thing! It would suck to have to endure playing rpgs that consisted of one room and didn't even have properly scripted events.
On the other hand, it feels a bit constraining. Aka, it feels like even as an indie developer I have to answer to some sort of higher "VIP club" just to get my works out there.
I also shudder to think what could happen if a person in charge of "okaying games" disliked me as a person or at the very least carried a small grudge. Would that factor into the decision making process? I certainly hope not!
Fortunately my first impression of RMN has been highly positive! It's been fun messing around with the CSS options. Due to that I'm a bit glad my game wasn't published right away. It gave me some time to learn the system and pretty stuff up!
Anxiously awaiting approval,heh!

We do have an article or tutorial in the Article area that gives a few hints and tricks. I'm pretty sure there's something on it about the background colours as well as a handy code that you just copy/paste and edit as you like.
There's also a thread somewhere. The search bar could probably help if you look for keywords like css or game page customis/ze.
Much obliged! I'm on it.
