Wow that video lol
Wait so is the battle system really just one button?
I know most of that video was a joke but thats the first time I heard about the one button thing.
anything that shows a news clip or whatever on the screen is real information or a real quote

this is translation for real? i cant even tell anymore when it comes to satire and SE
watch the last 3 mins for maximum realness
"When does this get good?"
for tv shows and movies i used to give it 15 minutes, but now i give it the first scene. it's like rule#1 as a writer that the first scene, even the first sentence, has to be gripping, so you pour effort into developing extremely compelling scenario as the first thing the viewer sees.
assuming every writer knows that, if they make a boring or uneventful introductory scene it can be pretty safely assumed they have no idea what they're doing and the rest is going to be either just as boring or even worse
the first scene being compelling is the reason i watched breaking bad despite being predisposed to dislike its subject matter (dont care about drugs/new mexico)
i give video games a little more time but the same principle kind of applies. if i just feel good being in the game world because of the art or music or writing i'll forgive anything else so i don't care if it ever gets good as a 'game'.
if it doesn't have those other things i will quit almost immediately if there's some super offensive mechanical element that demonstrates the creator has no idea what they're doing
i also love star ocean 2 for a variety of reasons but that opening is hilariously long. i just feel good inhabiting it though

Dark Souls (I and II)!
souls discussion:
des great
ds1 great
ds2 one of the worst games of all time
bb no reason not to believe it will be great but hard to trust anything ever again, in life, after ds2
the difficulty in all of them is 90% the result of marketing causing the player imagine it will be hard and alter their normal video game behavior, if you've never heard anything about the series and go in expecting regular 'devil may cry' action game you'll just run up to every enemy and hit attack and it works just as well in souls . bosses u must observe telegraphs and dodge just like any decent action game made since 198X so that's all good but nothing remarkably difficult with a couple exceptions
they are great experiences w/ solid bosses and interesting world exploration just like the iga castlevania games but not even close to being the nightmare it's sold as. it would be nice if someone made a game that is actually hard enough to deserve 'prepare2die' tagline. maybe bloodborne will be it

What happened to Gaming World?
man it's cool that people are still talking about this
the name is from a joke image member 'gz' made in 2008 during a discussion of how the new site main site's front page should look . he made an absurd humor style mockup of a front page where every article was inexplicably related to salt
whoops i mean everyone from gw is evil and does every conceivable thing in life to gorge their black hearts on suffering and malice

@Dudesoft: I was told it was named Salt World to mock all the people getting salty about the fact that the site had banned game-design-related content. Either that, or because drinking those people's salty tears had basically become the active members' sole joy in life. Either way works.
