Demon Slayer
Really appreciate the informal update. I think it really helps to "lock" the art style at a certain point even if it kills you to continue "flaws" you see post lock. It gets projects done when you don't have to think about new nuances and simply assembly lining the art so to speak. I mean you probably already know the gist of that. But don't strain yourself and keep on keeping on.
Best of luck.

Yeah I really like the semblance of RTP cyberpunk'd up and ideas like poster images on the wall as tilesets.

Oh I see. Yeah I played the rest of the demo and it was fun, albeit quite a few spike puzzles that reveal rm2k3's wonky tile detection haha. But yeah I'd say the start puzzle lets you know of the behavior of how everything works, but not what you're supposed to do (not knowing what the correct layout of 4 piece section and how it relates to the left side) is how I interpreted it anyway. Looking forward to the full game.
Also what interests you about rm2k3 specifically? I realize you did some Gameboy roms (homebrew?) and that seems very highly technical moreso than making something in rpgmaker. I assume you like working under limitations but what draws you to it?

Common steam users don't even know the difference between RPG Maker VX Ace or RPG Maker 2003. They might recognize the graphics to be "stock rpg" seen in other games but not everyone on steam does their research or are informed on DIY makers. We complain about rm2k3 constantly and know all the ins and outs of the limitations by now but like, it's still an above average SNES RPG system to most common people.
I can def see the stigma around games with RPG Maker somewhere in the description as a detriment, but still. What I find about the steam user base is that the people making reviews/commenting are generally the same kind of people seeking out indie RPGs without really caring what engine they're in. It does make me appreciate and understand what kind of mini ecosystems Steam is trying to foster, although specific niches like this aren't really able to sustain every game they overlap. Ontop of all this it really just comes down to marketing which sadly requires a crapton of money and a bit of luck.

Tried the demo, didn't understand the first puzzle at all. I thought I had to correspond the left room's tiles with the one I have set on the right room in a way that didn't involve me turning off the tiles from the south/north but then it didn't work. Also the left room seems to reset anyway when I leave the room. No clue what to do after those ideas.
Am aware it's a demo from june but just wanted to try it out.
