Darkness Falls

author=WheelmanZero
Actually it looks like this game was built using the Nightmare Land resource pack available on steam and rpg maker.web. http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/a/graphics/nightmare-land-resource-pack I bought the pack myself, but I doubt I'll ever get around to using it, heh heh. Glad someone finally got to it!

Hmmm. Seems I've gotta eat some humble pie then.

Darkness Falls

A fan game aping resources for a fun project? Debatable but generally accepted.
A game aping resources, claiming it as their own, and starting a campaign to profit from it? Pretty sure that's illegal.

Fear and Hunger

I was talking with a friend about search systems and we came up with these points.
-If we know something is there, we generally don't stop looking until we find it. I couldn't find my bank card the other day and I tore my apartment apart until I finally found it in the fridge for some reason.
-If we don't know something is there but it's a place that could have something (like a box, barrel or bookshelf) we tend to look thoroughly. But we don't stop looking because we don't find something, we stop looking because we don't find anything interesting.
-We also often stop searching due to time or frustration. Basically, whatever we're looking for isn't worth the time to look for it.

So maybe something from that can help with how to solve the coin toss search for random items issue. I thought about timed button presses for searching, or having searching make noise that could attract trouble if you search for too long. But I haven't put much thought into the best way to use either system.

Fear and Hunger

For saving the girl, getting lucky enough to find wherever the key ended up is the least of the troubles. Keeping her alive is the tough part.

Fear and Hunger

Random Number Generation or Random Number Generator, depending on context.

Fear and Hunger

Do you mean the guy where it says "you see something moving" or whatever when you approach? If so, he's always been there when I play so I didn't even know he could randomly not show up.

RNG is a big jerk.

As for the showing love with the girl issue - I actually didn't imagine this many people would try it out :'D Just make love with the ghouls if you are in need! Necrophilia is ok. I actually got pretty good ideas on what to do with that love making part in the future releases, so the game over stuff is gonna be gone.

You underestimated the gamer's need to try every possibility:) If you give gamers a puppy and a blender, they'll try it out, not because they wanna see a puppy in a blender but because they wanna see what happens after, and because they wanna know if you thought of the puppy and the blender.

As for the girl, I figure she doesn't talk just because she's either too traumatized or she has no tongue.

ARCADEA

There's a lot of problems with the whole lolicon thing. Mainly, westerners don't use the term properly, don't understand it's origins, and throw it around way too much, leading to even more misinformation.

Art style plays a lot into how a character looks. On one hand, you have Koge Donbo, who's adults sometimes look like they're in elementary school. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have Hirohiko Araki, who's kids sometimes have an adult's musculature. So on that note, I'm surprised to hear that Maisie is 17. I guessed her to be about 12. So yeah, artist style matters a whole lot.

Fear and Hunger

I laughed my head off when selecting to love when the girl is in the party.

Fear and Hunger

I finally got to try this (really, I can thank Nier: Automata's 2-layer download-install taking 10 bloody hours!).

It has a really good atmosphere and some good hints at lore sometimes. More on that later. The graphics and sounds are excellent. Combat is fun and it's nice to be disabling enemies. Although one of the big guys still had his way with me even with his stinger removed. I give him a gold star for effort.

It's likely the darkest game I've played that didn't come from Japan, but I never felt it was intentionally trying to offend. Yes, even when I was leaking blood out my anus, I wasn't offended. I was pre-occupied with trying to find a way to stop it.

For drawbacks, I get that it's a dungeon crawler but I think there may be too much random. I had runs that went pretty swimmingly and I had runs where I was dead at the door. It seemed to be there was no in-between. I'd prefer it if it were maybe 80% skill/judgement/memory and only 20% random. IMO everything being random doesn't add to the oppression enough to offset the annoyance it causes.

Also, there should be a way to get back to your game quicker if it's the type of game where you're dying all the time.

Still though, I can't wait for the final version.
