IROG'S PROFILE

Hi all !

I like 16-bits RPGs (especially action RPGs) where you feel the quest behind the lines of code. I also like strategy, puzzle solving, immersive stories, tabletop RPG and LARP.

I'm a hobbyist C programmer who likes to work on custom game mechanics. My very first project was a very basic map generator for Genesia, aka Ultimate Domain https://rpgmaker.net/users/Irog/locker/UltimateDomainWorld.zip

I also want to help developers polishing their projects with my player feedback. So I'll be happy to test your game !

See you around,
Irog

How to take a screenshot and submit it to the site

Taking the Screenshot

in Linux (Ubuntu, Lubuntu, ...)
1. Run your project
2. Press Alt + Print Screen
3. Go to your Home Folder: You'll find your screenshot as PNG file. The file name starts with the date in the format yyyy-mm-dd-hhmmss.

in EasyRPG
1. Run your RM2k or 2k3 project in EasyRPG
2. Press F10
3. Go to your project folder: You'll find your screenshot as PNG file. The file name starts with "screenshot_" followed by a number that increase every time you take a screenshot.

Both methods instantly create a new screenshot file every time you press the key(s). This is very handy when you test a game and take a screenshot every time you want to report an issue to the developer.

Great GIMP tutorial man !

I think we need tutorial categories like "graphics", "music" and "tools" that are engine independent.

Visual Novel Maker - Final Review

That's the beauty of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS): no need to reverse engineer the product and take copyright risks so you can expect a lot of plugins! FOSS also enable the community to submit bug fixes, thus improving the software reliability.

Visual Novel Maker - Final Review

On itch.io there are a lot of visual novels made with Ren'Py that have 3 downloads (Windows, Mac and Linux). The Linux download directly runs on Linux, no need to bother with Steam. I guess Ren'Py can build all 3 download files from any development platform.

Visual Novel Maker - Final Review

Ren'Py also runs on Linux and other platforms !

Don’t Throw Away That 2k3 Just Yet

There are a lot of great 2k and 2k3 games. And EasyRPG makes it effortless to run them on Linux. Games made in other RM engines are troublesome to run and often makes me give up.

Bullet hell with an RPG engine – Mission Impossible?

Great read Prifurin !

Thank you for sharing your experience. I like your description of the sub-pixel workaround. A few years ago, I used 1/10th of pixels to improve Lya's projectiles accuracy, and though it was a naive approach. You convinced me that it was actually a good idea.

RMN JANUARY 2016 PODCAST

I fully agree with you Dyhalto.

Libby & friends, please bring back the podcasts!

How to make a demo

author=visitorsfromdreams
This is a place where people come to share what they have created, to communicate and grow as developers regardless of experience of backgrounds.

That's what I love so much about RMN. And the reason I stick around although I never used a RPG Maker engine.

Demos allow us to show each other where our games are at conceptually and to give each other feedback on graphics, mechanics, characters and writing. Thats hugely valuable.

Yes we all need feedback to fuel motivation and steer our projects in the right direction.

Make demos! Play demos! And above all: give feedback on demos!
