LIBERTY'S PROFILE

I enjoy playing and creating games (mostly RPGs) and have a love of story and characterisation above graphics. I've been into RM* since '96 and have used all makers - started on the PSX makers, found and used a patched version of the SNES RM, then moved to RM95. When I found RM2K I finally decided to join some forums and I've been a part of the community ever since.

Eh? Okay, so glad I don't watch fox. They obviously don't know half of what they're talking about. Mr. Rogers>Sponge Bob SP x1000

How do you guys come up with witty quotes?

See it here. ^.^
Wit can come naturally or you can try to garner it by watching/reading funny shows/books. Also, hang around funny people and think about what makes you laugh.

And I have said nothing that has not been said already. XP

Video Game Purchases

I just bought a PS2 with 2 controllers and memory card, FFX, Mortal Combat V, Medal of Honour: something-or-rather, a racing game and GT for...

What kind of errors? Spelling? Spacing? (Those I know about.^.^) Or are they serious ones?

Release Something! Day VI - Discussion Thread

^.^
So far I've played a few of the Releases and pretty much enjoyed what I've seen. Just a little of each for the moment, I'll continue playing after. ^.^

First I played Dreamer which had very nice chipsets (and charasets XP). The style of them reminded me of a little-known game called 'Love Quest RPG' - very simplistic but suave. And modern to boot! The game play itself was alright. There were no battles in this small demo. I'm pretty sure that it was just a showcase of the original graphics.

Next I tried Wild Kings. It's supposed to be funny (though I found the 'humour' lacking) and the RTP mapping is rather meh, but for some reason I enjoyed it. Maybe I just liked the main character. ^.^ Or quests. Quests (be they mini-, side- or story-) always get me. I also liked engaging the enemies on map and the battles were pretty balanced. I'm gonna play this a bit more later on, despite its faults. It's just plain fun. ^_^

Generica, is a great little DW/Q style romp. I got up to the second village and so far, so fun. I really like the light-hearted appeal it has and always have enjoyed a little grinding and exploration, so this sort of game really appeals to me. It takes a bit of time to get used to the graphics as I've rarely ever played 8-bit games - I'm definitely making up for it now, though. ^_^ Another one I'm gonna keep playing (and hope to see a full version of).

Follow the Free was a rather interesting experience. At first I didn't realise that I was the guard and managed to save the first prisoner before I figured out how to 'play'. I could see this being made in to a larger puzzle game with many more 'stages'. Loved the evil guy's talking. I played it twice just to hear the rest of his/her rant. ^.^

Phylomortis: Quest for the Golden Brassiere is pretty cool with the systems and the way you learn magic, though I almost didn't make it through the first fight alive. I'm going to have to re-think my 'strategy' a bit and see if I can't do better next time. I've yet to play much of it, but my computer is acting pretty laggy at the moment (though it ran fine for Geondun (???!)) so I'll give replay it again later.

Speaking of 'next time', Geondun had me slaughtered on the first floor. I really should have stayed near the exit instead of deciding to explore further afield. I really liked the idea behind this game! It's a pretty original reason to grab a team and go rooting about in unexplored areas. ^.^ I chose me a team of females and one male. Poor guy died first - probably trying to get away from the nagging. XP Another game I'm gonna try again.

Ascendence is like, wow! The atmosphere is great, the setting is great and the gameplay (as far as I am at the moment) is pretty good. I've yet to be in a battle so only time will tell what that's like. I'm trying to get the 'catpter scene' but mah scooter keeps dumping me over ledges and the one time I did get past that I was too distracted by 'dinner' to realise there was something I had to do. I'm gonna have to try it yet again. The alternate scene is pretty good too and I really like talking to the NPCs I meet. So far, so good.

Well, that's all I've tried at the moment but I'll be sure to check out some of the others too.

(Besides HR, but kentona should know what I think about it considering 'ReamlS' creations and all. XP <3)

THE ORIGINAL DOWNLOAD HAD A BUG. A FIXED VERSION IS NOW AVAILABLE, BUT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO USE IT COPY ANY CHARASET FILE INTO THE CHARASET FOLDER AND NAME IT "Chara2". THIS WILL FIX THE BUG.

Release Something! Day Demo has been added to the first post.

It's about an hour long if you manage to do everything - consider it a bit of a teaser. I'll be adding another demo soon, probably about twice as long and with some small changes.

Enjoy!

Fires

Sorry to hear about your fire ordeal, but glad to hear that you didn't lose anything, though I bet your stuff reeks of smoke. It can be very nerve-wracking especially when you don't know exactly the how/why/whens (but it's still nerve-wracking when you do).

God, yes. I hate fire so much.

My family seems to be cursed when it comes to fires - we've had a ton of them.
- Our house once burned down
- A couple of rooms gutted (kitchen, bedroom x2, caravan x2)
- Who knows how many chimney fires

We also live in an area that's been known to have a lot of bush fires. Thankfully only small ones this year (though other areas nearby weren't so lucky - Victorian Bush Fires) but quite a few big ones a couple of years back.

So yeah. Not a fan of fire, I.
