Making lamps that work (rmxp)
I've taken the screen tint path myself but the fog one would look more realistic.
I can't really be bothered with it right now so I'll probably touch them up when I'm done with everything else.
It will take a fair amount of effort because there are only two lamps in the entire town that I want lit up. Other than that, there are only two campfire scenes.

Making lamps that work (rmxp)
I have lamps in my town and most of the time they're off. However, there is one scene when they're in the town after dark. I having everything tinted to near darkness but I'd like to have light coming from the lamps.
How can I do this because the screen tint makes every event go dark. I put in a light image but that doesn't really do much to help the situation.

[Poll] Why some people think FF8 was the best FF ever?
It would've been cool if I could have chosen two instead of just one.
I like the story and the rapid pace it seems to have (at least to me) but I also like the risk-reward factor.

Using Final Fantasy Music for a Final Fantasy type game?
Thanks for your opinions. I'm planning on sticking with just Final Fantasy IX because each Final Fantasy game had a different style of music and I don't want them clashing with each other. I guess an extreme example would be combining Final Fantasy V with IX.
I'm going to have a scene in the game where one of the characters has to fight herself, just like the scene in IV where Cecil becomes a paladin and has to fight his former self. What piece from IX do you think would be most appropriate for this? I've already put in situations where "Sword of Confusion" is used so I'd like to use something different. Or if there is one from the other games which you think would fit in nicely, let me know. I've got the soundtracks from I-X and Chrono Trigger.
Also, because of my views and feelings about this subject. I'm not willing to download/rip music from the internet.

What Do You Wish You Were Playing Right Now?
Final Fantasy X HD
3d Movie Maker (I know this isn't really a game, but when I did get to try it once I found it a fun program)

Using Final Fantasy Music for a Final Fantasy type game?
How should I credit it if I want to use Final Fantasy music in my game? This is also has not been downloaded from the internet but from the official soundtracks what I have as a hard copy on cd.
I'd like to use the music from Final Fantasy IX but if it's going to cause me a whole lot of hassle after I upload the game here, I'm not sure if I really want to go through all that bother.

[Poll] How Much “Planning” Or “Prepping” Do You Do Before Starting Your Game(s)?
The game I'm working on is actually the first where I've had most of it planned before I started making it. Unlike my other ones where I've had a burst of inspiration and then suddenly run out of steam and abandon it not long afterwards.
This one I've actually had the ideas worked out for about 4 years or so before I decided to do something with them.

What's a good length for a demo?
I'm finding that trying to make a demo of my game is a lot harder than I thought. Maybe I'm in too deep now and should just finish it as a complete game.
I'm hardly making any progress on it right now as I'm doing a course now and since the Skyrim Legendary Edition has come out, I've got all caught up in the game again.

Well as far as the intro goes, it doesn't really have a name. The king simply asks his high mage if their "experiment" is ready.
I'd like some advice on how I'd begin the intro if it doesn't start at the beginning of the game. From the point where you suggested (here's some plot spoilers)
The king has extended his magic turning everybody in town in to monsters, not exactly an invasion, but still pretty horrible. They rush through the town and are accosted by guards who've been turned in to undead and tell the hero that it doesn't matter to them if he's living or dead, the king has ordered no one to enter or leave the city. They fight them and leave the city heading for the village some distance away.

What's a good length for a demo?
I'm finding my hardest part for now is restraining myself not to keep on adding more to the plot until I have my demo ready to put up. After I've done that then I'll put up regular updates, probably every two or three days when something significant is added to the game. I assure you, this game isn't going to be one of those, takes 10 years to get around to finishing it, ones.
Another question I was thinking of last night. What is a good way to end the demo? I'm not planning on having it cut to the title screen but having it fade to black, putting questions about what will happen? Just two or three at the most, not so long it gets boring.
I've also thought of a better title for the game now and I'd be interested to know what you guys think. I'm thinking of changing it from "The planet guardians" to "The portal to hell" since that is what the king has set up and is a major part of the plot. I was tossing up whither to use the word Hell or Tartarus to make it more interesting, but I think the second choice would leave it a bit confusing.
