The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)

I go back to the antique shop to meet up with Wes and Zuko. Not much else to say or do.

Also, who is in fact carrying our ropes? I don't see it anywhere in the inventories.

By the way, it might be an idea to have someone forge a small piece of armour for Bazyli out of the Valkinite. He is little, so it might be enough for him. Just a suggestion.

Edit: seiromem, I don't get it.

The Campaign

Good question. The answer is: By using hundreds of variables and literally thousands of event commands and conditional branches. Every position has an ID variable whose value defines which character is currently standing there, and an amount of other variables define their current status and attributes. The actions the player can take are defined by autorunning events using button input processings. It's a ton of work to do it that way, and probably not the most efficient way, but it has the advantage of giving me total freedom in design.

Now, I didn't stricly use only eventing. There are three scripts I used for some of the functions that are almost impossible to reproduce with normal event commands. They don't do everything for me and still have to be used in defined ways, but they are still essential.

Fundamental RPGology Thread

I didn't want to post here yesterday before Merlandese had given his scores, so now that he did...

YES! Thank you! I am entirely happy about this outcome, and just as grateful for all the useful feedback you have given. I'll try prove myself worthy of the bronze medal, promise.

Congratulations to azalathemad, Aegix_Drakan and everyone who participated! This was a really cool event and will have a permanent influence on how I want to approach battle systems in future projects.

Now, one last question for Hasvers: Given that you were quite critical when judging the submissions for the contest (and rightfully so), do you believe it was worth it? Would you say the contest was a success, even though it seems it mostly didn't go into the direction you had intended?

The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)

Ah, crap! She saw through me. Alright, I'll have to put on my pokerface.
"Hey, calm down. I only told you what I remember of the incident. If some vile being tricked me and I wrongly accused someone, I apologize. But I told you all I know, and I don't know what else to say then.
By the way, you just healed me. Wouldn't it be a bad idea to let all that effort go to waste now by attacking me? I'm grateful for your help, but please leave me in peace now."

With these words, I turn away and ask the innkeeper for food and drink supplies for two days for 5 people. I don't order smaller portions for Bazyli because I'm still not sure he actually is a real child at all...

(By the way, seiromem, I think you didn't put the correct amount of money in my status.)

@JJJ7: Haha, nice! I didn't think that would actually work, but you totally told those idiots off. Well done.

@Ilan14: Yeah, sure. And as soon as I turn my back, you start flirting with some random mystic girl. Shame! ;)

Edit: Wes, you could ask her whether she knows what the Mystery Ore actually is. Oh, and I am not interested in a water enchantment.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Statisticians

For the first time, I feel like I am worthy of my name. ^_^

Cowabunga.

For my final project for game development, I have to create a game and provide full documentation.

I can imagine there are worse kinds of homework.

The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)

Ilan, calm down, man. It's great that you're being so enthusiastic about this, but try not to exaggerate. Sometimes we just have to wait for the others to make their move, and seiromem already puts a lot of time into this game.
Let's be patient, shall we? ^_^

Thou shalt not double-post, wes.

Edit: "Keep saying that to yourself, Zuko. The more you delude yourself, the more likely it is that I lose patience with you at some point."

The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)

Stop! Change of plans, if I may! My remark about "whatever additional materials are available" was meant more in the way of "I don't know which are still available and not used yet - tell me".
So, if possible, I'd like Sanguine Crystals instead of moonscale in my armour. Considering I'm a ranged fighter, glowing in the dark and thus being more easy to spot would be a disadvantage rather than an advantage.

-----------------

I sigh at Zuko's remark. "I thought we had that covered already? I'm interested in keeping you alive and safe, yes. I'd hate to lose a dependable ally. But that's it. Now let's not waste time arguing, okay?
Oh, and thanks for the money, Wes. I'll pay you back in time."

Then I ask the shopkeeper: "Say, I've got some more Murkal scales here but have no use for them. Would you want to buy them? That's it, I think."

As I prepare to go to the antique shop with the others, I remember something. "Guys, we still haven't bought food and drink supplies. I'll leave for the inn and buy us some. Then I can also ask about the mage who healed me and pay her back."

P.S.: Razuna and Bazyli, don't you dare get in a fight with those guys! I'm not in the mood to come rescue you yet again! ;)

The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)

Oops. Seems like I left at the wrong moment. I hadn't expected you'd be this fast. Sorry, guys.

-----------------

"Huh... You know, I'm not sure we should even bother going to chop wood in the forest at this point. It probably makes more sense to just pay a few extra CIEL for the log instead of spending too much time in the forest again. But, whatever, if you all really want to go, I'm coming too. Zuko is right, though, we should definitely pay a visit to the antique shop."

Then, addressing the blacksmith, I say: "Alright, I'm not sure how much of this my companions have already ordered for me, but I wanted some more quartzine bolts, a stronger set of light armour (that is, Ferall pelt armour with whatever additions would be useful and still available) and the hatchet. You can just use normal iron for the hatchet."

Then I remember something: "Oh, right! Zuko, we found this down in the cave," I say as I show him the Murkal Shell shield. "If you attached a handle to it, I bet it would make a strong shield. I can't use it and I see Wes has already bought a shield, so I figured you should have it instead. What do you think?"
