RPG Design Checklist?
I usually start with making "story flowchart" using free application called dia. This way I have main plot points planned out so I won't get stuck with story (details are filled as I go so it's possible that two different people would make game that is bit different in terms of dialogs or location design, even if plot would be largely similar.

Great plugin. Kinda reminds me of Cherry's (discontinued) CGSS (Cherry Game Scripting System), it was his first attempt as DynRPG-like patch and used Lua as well.
Modern 3D platformers?
Maybe I should narrow definition of "modern" a little bit, seeing as most of you suggest games that I either played or know about and just didn't interest me. "Modern" means in context of this thread any 3D platformer made after PS3/Wii/X360 generation.
Also I want third person platformers, like Rayman, Croc, Mario64, etc. Preferably free-roaming, but can be also what I call "corridor platformers" such as Crash.
