FOUR STARS...for what ??

Except... it is broken. My game, The Missile, has only one review and only because Deckiller felt sorry for me ;). If it wasn't broken, I'd have 2 or more reviews by now.

If it wasn't broken game-to-review ratio would be higher than 1. Way higher.

Is it possible to buy Japanese versions of old RPG Maker engines anymore?

You can't buy 2k3 anymore, but you can buy 2k. I think easiest (than setting up address in japan at least) would be just flying to Japan. I was recently on tourist trip to Tokyo and saw RPG Tsukuru 2000 Value! in some game store (there were also famicoms and famicom games here). Dunno where exactly it was, but it was in some small alley, near airport.

Games should come with a comments page with it's own star ranking system.

Actually... this is good compromise that I'm willing to accept. Just do double system, like on metacritic: Review rating and player rating. I think this will satisfy both sides.

pianotm is right. I'll be honest, most of the time on this forum I usually discredit the opinion of people that haven't made good games. Which means I also discredit myself.

Oh, old "If you can't make something better, shut up" bullshit? That's nice, that's really really nice.

Moving on [aka goodbye rm2k3]

author=calunio
So I finally decided to abandon RM2K3. It's not because I think the engine is too limited. It's not for the games I like making, anyway. But I decided it's time to move on for two important reasons:

- RM2K3 is not compatible with some operational systems and with newer versions of Windows (sometimes).
- All my games were starting to look the same.

I have 3 options as to what I'm moving on to. I want you guys' opinions because I may be leaving some important factor behind from my analysis (or even a better option).

Let me just say in advance: time is a big problem for me. Spending time in learning a new engine is not something I'm very excited to do.

Option 1 - RMVXAce
PROS
-The smallest difference from what I'm used to making, so learning how to use it would be the fastest.
CONS
-My games are not RPGs, so making the kind of game I want would take much more work in RM.
-I have a feeling a newer version of RM will be out soon.

Option 2 - Unity
PROS
-It's compatible with anything.
-After I have some degree of mastery over the engine, I would be able to make the kind of games I like making easily.
CONS
-It runs slow on my computer.
-Having to learn an entire new language from scratch. The time I would take to learn how to use it is the time I could be using in making 5 or 6 games.

Option 3 - Delphi
PROS
-I already know how to program using Delphi. I would only have to learn to make programs more visual and gamey.
-It's probably the most flexible of all options. I would be able to use editboxes and texts and open files from within the game, and all sorts of stuff a software can do.
CONS
-Even if I get the hang of the graphical part of Delphi, games still wouldn't look too gamey.
-If I wanted to make something more graphical, something as simple as a walking animation would take me 20x more time to do than in, say, RM.

So... any thoughts?

Option 4
Game Develop
Pros:
- Extremely easy to use
- Nice community
- 100% free
- Soon to be open source
Cons:
- Does only 2D
- I am registered on their forums as Darkhog and actively use this software.

That's not more accurate. That's just more people.

Lockez, learn basic statistics, mostly that funny thing called statistical significance so you can see why asking 1000 people to see which political party (example) is more popular is better than asking 10 people same thing.

What's the point in a professional critic saying a game/movie is great when the majority of players/watchers doesn't like it?
This, so much this.

[Poll] Humorous or serious - Which do you prefer?

author=RedMask
I choose - I like them all equally well.

I like serious games but, I wish there were more comedy games out there cause so far the funniest game I ever played was Conker's Bad Fur Day and that game is really old. You would think something would have topped it by now but not that I've seen.

Try Gulpy Gulpy - weirdest and funniest game on English speaking RM scene.

pixel for character maker

Cool! For VX you just need to swap last to rows and you're good to go.

Deciding between engines

If I were you, I'd keep my tabs on Open RPG Maker. It's not ready yet (has only editor, engine is still in development), but according to author only Show Message command is left to be implemented and then it will be deployed. I'll ask Tuxinator (developer) about status of this, but should be finished in few months.

Is there a script like...

Like Game&Watch games?
