Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home.

What do you think happened to me?

Wow, I've been working on my game for less than a year and already have 7 hours done...

Awesome! Keep up the good work!

RPGMaker VX Ace + DLC on Humble Bundle

Just so you guys know, Twin Matrix (Rose Portal Games), developer of Sweet Lily Dreams, is a long-time scammer in the RM community and you should not give him your money. Here's the history behind it: http://www.amaranthia.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=226220#forumpost226220 (I had a difficult time tracking down a reference to the incident that he hasn't strong-armed into silence.)

Remember when IRC was the bees knees?

There are people who still use IRC?

So...what's everyone doing during the entire month of June?

Working on an entry in the Unity contest. Lots to do yet but it's turning out great!

Unfortunately, it's demanding all of my spare time at the moment so as much as I'd like to enter another event, I probably won't be able to unless the event's specs are compatible with the Unity contest.

Which would be super-awesome. It would suck to have two major gamedev events going on at once and only being able to enter one.

Could we get the recent posts button back under the Community menu at the top? I have no idea where it went.

Win $50k - Unity + Windows Store contest

So do they get all rights to your game if you do this? What if someone made a super popular game on par to angry birds, would Microsoft be the ones to profit?

No. They don't get anything. Shoobinator is just fear-mongering.

If I managed to study this year I would have learned to use Unity... TT_TT

To anyone who is interested in this: be careful of the fine print and what becomes or does not become the property of Microsoft by entering a game in their contest. Art contests are often a scam to generate free ideas.

Really? UGH, I hate people who do that. That's why artists are so mistreated. =_=

I'm not sure why you posted that without looking at the contest guidelines yourself to confirm that that was not the case.

Darn it… If only I knew Unity…

Sounds like a great chance to learn! There's plenty of tutorials on the internet.

Why I cancelled Vol II of Enelysion...

I know that feeling and it's probably for the best that you made that decision. I ran into a similar problem when working on Vacant Sky: pretty much the entire plot was rewritten after the original Act I came out and going back to correct it later set me back more than a year when I could've spent that time on something new.

On to bigger and brighter things!

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

That is actually 100% true. Hair is by far the most difficult aspect of a character to model and make look good. I don't think there's ever been a Bioware game with non-atrocious-looking hair, for example. The only company that consistently produces games with great-looking hair is Square-Enix, and they have comparatively small casts and long production schedules.

The reason most game hair is short and dark is because it's fast to make and the dark color hides imperfections. You also don't need to rig it or have hair motion physics.
