Something happened to me last night when I was driving home. I had a couple of miles to go. I looked up and saw a glowing orange object in the sky. It was moving irregularly. Suddenly, there was intense light all around. And when I came to, I was home.

What do you think happened to me?

I finished FFXV. I don't think I've ever been so amazed yet disappointed at a game, ever.

It's best to go into it with no preconceptions. I feel very fortunate that I knew nothing about the game when I played it.

Yeah, I haven't played it yet, but it very much sounds like "If you're just in it for the road trip, then you'll like it, but if you want story, you'll be disappointed."

It's the other way around, actually, but I can't really elaborate without spoilers.

I finished the game last week. I don't think a game has ever made me cry as much as this one. I'm sad that it's over. :(

Do you think VR will last?

Given how there are virtually no VR games, and all of the ones that have come out so far have been commercial catastrophes, I don't think VR ever even took off to begin with.

How to deal with lethargy?

Have you heard of the Pomodoro method? It's what I use on my workdays to keep myself productive. The idea is that you work completely uninterrupted for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break, and when the break ends, you work for another 25 minutes.

I use https://tomato-timer.com/ as a timer and it works great for me.

Apathy is not a fucking virtue

What's "worth caring about" is entirely subjective

I don't know, I think there are some things that are objectively worth caring about, like the fact that there are more people in slavery today than at any point in human history.

Cheers, fellow RMNers!

Let's toast for an excellent life of gam mak!

Also, about my last status, I'd like to get in touch with the mentioned companies to ask if I can compose and release commercial music using soundfonts from their old SNES games (Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger and Super Castlevania IV).

The answer is probably yes, if you're willing to shell out boatloads of cash to license them. Their websites probably have a legal contact you can email.

Everyone using dropbox, change your passwords ASAP. https://www.troyhunt.com/the-dropbox-hack-is-real/

The leaked passwords were salted. You're fine.

Anyone have any tips on how to get in touch with companies like Nintendo, Square Enix, HAL Laboratory?

What do you need to get in contact with them about? If it's business-related, either you'll hear from them first or you'll need a contact to get a word in with them.

Who's your favorite character from any and all games?

Probably Raiden from MGS2, although the character isn't really separable from the game in his case because his role in the game and its meta-narrative are what really make him stand out as memorable.

So playing Pokemon Go means you have to accept an arbitration clause. Welp! https://boingboing.net/2016/07/16/pokemon-go-players-you-have-3.html

Please don't be a corporate apologist. Just because it's common does not mean it is acceptable.
