SHOOBINATOR'S PROFILE

I am into just about every genre of game really. My brother and I grew up dabbling in RM2k3 on occasion to the point where hearing the RTP soundtrack brings a wave of nostalgia, so I'm most familiar with that engine as far as RPGMaker goes.

Check out my game I'm working on!

Legend of Alkior: The Impending Storm
Tension between two kingdoms rises as the seal on the renegade archmage, Xargath, inevitably fades and must be promptly restored.

The official English 2k3 version is out!

Altered? No, we didn't change the transitions.
What do you mean?

I don't think there was "remove random blocks (from a particular direction)" previously.

One other random thing: does anyone know what the 'Step Frame Fix' character animation does exactly? That also looks new.

Instantenous fadeout -> Cut In fadein works fine for me. Just an instant change and no flashing black.

e: grammar

Oh thanks, I got it to work, but I can only see the Instant fadeout under the default system menu options.

A Golden Week of RPG Maker 2003

Can someone please help? I think Cherry&Co. removed instant screen transitions from RM2k3! :(

I don't want to settle for the new "Cut In/Out" transitions that will end up flashing the screen black :/

Hey, I noticed some of the hide/show screen transitions were altered in this new version but I never saw this in the official changelog.

I've had to ditch my idea in favor of a shorter plan, too... Just too much story attached to my original idea.

I think what I did helped with that. I planned a theme or kind of narrative I wanted to present and then built up from that. Having a game with no dialogue windows also helps with that ;)

How'd you make that glow effect?

Is anyone else starting to get that gnawing panicky feeling that they won't get finished in time for the deadline?
It's horrible, yeah. I always feel like I'm wasting the plot or gameplay idea if I "just do it for a contest". Damn perfectionism.

Game jams breeeed prototypes. You can always expand on an idea of yours later, especially if it receives positive feedback.

Hey is it possible to make terrain deal lethal damage (without a more complex event, which I might have to do anyways)? As in, is there a built-in option for that buried somewhere?
:D
As far as I know there isn't an option for that. You may just have to put events over each of the tiles that you want to deal lethal damage.

Nah, the alternative is to just detect the terrain type using the Terrain ID event and run a parallel process event to constantly detect what terrain you're currently standing on.

Also, protip: Use parallel process Flash Events to "recolor" your RTP sprites! :D
