srsly, it's the Counsel of Dragons, a sort of telepathic teleconferencing space where the seven dragons that rule the world can confer. It will probably only ever be used for this one cutscene after the credits of Episode 1. And now I'm off to script that cutscene.



here is the 1x1 detail of the area where the seven dragons meet.

In the center is the Time Dragon, clockwise left of him is the Crimson Dragon Baron Varymar, then conspicuous by his absence is the ice platform of Ice Dragon Baron Ulfyr, then Emerald Dragon Baroness Aemmyth, at the top is Ebon Dragon Baron Zylvidar Blackfyre (a name I obviously came up with when I was 12 and am sticking too), then the Golden Dragon Baroness/Goddess Chykoasso, and then in her pool is the Azure Dragon Baroness Cyrlira. whew; in summation: DAGRONS. The dragons in the hallway outside are young adults (older than Izuno). I have nearly hoarded graphics for all seven breeds and four age categories of dragons.

(obviously it would look much cooler if you could see the various large/huge dragons (esp. the one in the water) and not tiny random event sized postage stamps of them/nothing but i'll get there)

Hi Miss Nile! You are JUST the person I've been looking for all of these long years! I'm not doing IGMC this year (probably) but let me buy some maps at a discount anyway!

I need you a LOT for outdoor nature maps and almost not at all for the indoor "one-screen" maps. Seriously, I look at this:


And think...yeah, I could probably do that in about 20 minutes.

And think...yeah, I could probably never do that if I spent the rest of my life trying.

Undeniably true but keep in mind the idea of a storm crow bearing bad omens is also definitely an even earlier cultural folkloric thing Tolkien was tapping into.

Those quote-unquote "tricks" are actually elements of craftsmanship and style and plenty of the ones he neglects to use (like brevity) are not remotely "contemporary". Don't get me wrong, Tolkien is a fine writer if you have a tolerance for someone who runs quite long in terms of description. He wrote one of my favorite turns of phrase EVER: "Not all those who wander are lost". But once I'd read (in terms of Litfic) Hemingway or (in terms of genre fic) Pat Rothfuss and the like, Tolkien's prose was kind of ruined on me. Your mileage may vary obviously. I am grateful to JRR for the worldbuilding that let E. Gary Gygax make D&D, without which the world would be a shitty, shitty, shitty place (for one thing, we wouldn't have Final Fantasy). There is a very direct line from J.R.R. Tolkien through Advanced Dungeons & Dragons to Final Fantasy.

If anyone is using RPGMaker (any) and wants a writer and/or someone pretty good at using eventing and scripting to cobble together interesting systems, consider me to be on the bench, waiting to be tapped. If no one needs me, I won't be too upset. IGMC is bad timing this year (wait, isn't it the same time every year? >.<) because I am really into my own projects right now and starting to pick up a pretty good head of steam.
