I am still in the process of adding some new book icons for other types of spells. I found a set of about eight of them from Google. So once I have them completed, I will update this screen shot to show a character with a wider variety of spells (i.e. Nina, Nimufu, Bleu, or Spar).

Breath of Fire II: The Fated Child (XP)

I think you will be pleased with how we handle Ray's character development, WIP.

Remember how you find out Ray is from the Dark Dragon clan in the original? By talking to some random guy in Dologany who resembles him in appearance? "Oh, Ray looks like me? He must be a Dark Dragon. Anyway, good luck lolz.." Yeah. Pretty lazy. We take a lot more time with it in this version.

Breath of Fire II: The Fated Child (XP)

We discussed at length who we should add as playable characters in this version. We selected Ray and Nimufu out of a list that also included Tiga, Claris, Trubo, Patty, and even Granny, to name a few. In the end, it was decided that Patty's role was perfect the way it was and there was no need to add her to the team. We chose to go with two characters who had little to no development through the original game, so we could expand on that itself.

One could argue that Patty is the most developed character in the game. Besides, with the playable cast now at 11 characters, it's getting a little crowded, so we won't be adding any more new characters. Sorry.

Doesn't matter. Make the spacing and sizing compatible with the tallest and the widest fonts, and every other font will fit perfectly fine, and will still convey the same sizing (Current HP is larger than Max HP).


I have a few ideas in place now, I will also try this one. However, I must note that we don't really want to deter from the game's original design too much. So something that looked like the FFXII menu, for example, wouldn't work for us.

Being that you can select several different fonts, resizing the menu text isn't a viable option. The fonts are not all the same width and height. I am working on something to make it easier to read now. I will update the screen shot when I am finished with it.

HP/AP graphic bars are something we talked about but didn't commit to. Perhaps we should go ahead and add them after all.

As requested by RMN users, here is a screen showing various customization options in effect.

* First, you can change the font and window skin colors for menus and messages.

* Second, the backdrop for menus is now customizable between six different images. The six images are "GBA Boxart," "SNES Dragon," "SNES Dragon HD," "Yoshikawa 1," "Yoshikawa 2," and "Yoshikawa 3." By default, "SNES Dragon HD" is selected.

* You can also choose to keep the original SNES names for characters.

NOT shown in this screen shot is the ability to change the font style to flat, shadowed (shown here), outlined, or outlined & shadowed.

Once the design of the options script is finalized, I will post some screen shots of the menu in action.
