For the third year in a row, I miss this because I don't check the forums too often. I want to be reminded next year :(
I had a dream about a weird game, and now I want to make it.

I promise there will be no sex in this one. :)
Also, I have a theory. Amateur game developers are not equipped to make games that are comparable to comercial games in most objective parameters. So all we can do is make the type of games that could not be made commercially. So, making weird games is something of an obligation.

Yes, the games has some limitations due to the 2-week timeframe I worked with. But frankly, I don't think I would change much. I believe some games lose, instead of gain from extra length. You might take a look at this essay for a more elaborate view on this, which I completey agree.
Also, most of the art isn't rips. Characters are all made from scratch, as well as some of the maps. Only two maps were directly taken from another source, although somewhat edited.

Testing a graphic style for a point and click game. The idea is to use photos (cause I'm too lazy and incompetente to make decente pixel art), and mix pixelized photos for people and objects with minimalistic pixel scenarios.
What do you guys think?
(this is not an in-game screen, just testing the style).
Commercial games and creativity
People often tell me I should try making money out of my games. My answer always is: I would never do that. And the reason is: I feel that from the moment I decide to make a game meant to be SOLD instead of freely distributed, it would affect my decision making in ways that would make the game less daring, more conservative, less creative, and overall of a lesser quality. Of course I tend to worry about what will people think of my game, but I never had to worry whether people would buy my game, or HOW MANY people would buy it.
People usually tell me I'm wrong, that one thing is not related to the other. But today I came acrosse the following scientific paper that seems to support my idea:
"individuals given rewards seem to work harder and produce more activity, but the activity is of a lower quality, contains more errors, and is more stereotyped and less creative than the work of comparable nonrewarded subjects working on the same problems". [LINK TO PAPER]
