What would you like to see in a GameMaker game?
games like Super Metroid, or Castlevania SotN. Big huge map with tons of hidden power ups, upgrades, etc. Secret areas and such.

Ok, look, I have been reading through everything here and skipping through some things... I just have two questions for everyone here:
1: HOW do you get your toons to fight monsters on the playing field!? I know there's that view-thingy that allows them to see you coming and all, but I can't find it anywhere and would have NO clue on where to start looking.
2: How in the world did you get the toons HP and so forth including their pic on the view like that??? I love that and it looks so much better then just a big blank page, you know what I mean? I would love to do it with maybe a mini-map on the either bottom right or upper right side of the screen. Possibly add quick keys as well on the left side at the bottom or maybe square in the middle on the bottom of the screen, but I can't figure it out!
Please, someone at least 'point' me in the right place and I would be more then happy to read it myself from there! :) <3 to the peeps that can help! :)
Thank you,
Kitten2021
I'm not really sure what you're asking for your first question, but as far as #2 is concerned, it's usually done with a series of Common Events detecting your HP and then putting a picture on the screen based on how much HP you have.
If that doesn't reveal much to you, it'd be best to open up a game that uses this sort of UI and try to decipher the code until you figure it out.
In any case, trial and error works best.
Inspiration and Work Ethic

One bit of advice:
If you have a sudden idea or inspiration write it down. You might forget it otherwise and kick yourself for forgetting it.
...or you might read it again sometime later and realize that it was actually a pretty crummy idea. Either way, write down your ideas somewhere.
even if they aren't sudden. Write EVERY idea down, briefly or otherwise. Writing things down helps your brain solidify the idea, allowing you to expand upon it further than before. You may not think so, but just writing things down helps A LOT.

Relations with The Gender of Your Preference
D-Bones, just move on man. If she becomes jealous or whatev, then act on in then, but don't let your mind stray back to her! She is in the past, and you've got a whole ton of future ahead of you. Girls ain't worth waiting for. Especially when they've already expressed their disinterest.
Darksteel Review
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback! Seems that the good/bad things are becoming pretty consistent between players. I'll make good use of your suggestions for the next release. :)

Is it just me, or is the genre 'Action RPG' heavily mis-used on this site?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Action RPG usually implies some live-action combat system, right? Like unto Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, etc. right?
I've stumbled across so many games on RMN with the ARPG tag on their description, but use a classic turn-based battle system. WTF mate? What separates them from being plain ol regular RPGs?
