Idea for a new Community Project

for a game like this, i'd be much more interested in seeing how the mechanics and rules for the card game lay out. Having a bunch of people contribute cards and whatever is cool, but how will the game work?

Is it going to be a game of pseudo-'War'? Is it going to be more like a final fantasy-esque card game? Is it going to be something like those yugi-oh games? Is it going to have a rulebook thicker than some dictionaries (ie Magic the Gathering)?

This needs to be settled before cards can be made.

How many people read Game Blogs?

I will usually read the blogs of games I subscribe to (ie, games i am interested in playing).

favorite anime movie?

Valley of the Wind because it has mother fucking Patrick Stewart in it

(I haven't even seen the full thing yet)
pretty star-studded voice cast. still say you should go for a subtitled version tho.

I agree, the sub'd versions portray the characters more accurately, but in this case, Nausicaa had an AWESOME dub job.

I just recently acquired all of studio Ghibli's films. Laputa is one of my favorites for sure, as well as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

By the way, has anyone seen Ponyo yet? I'm going to see it tonight, pretty stoked.

Outside of Miyazaki, I don't watch much anime.

Got a new computer and cannot use rm2k3!

don't have the program directory installed in "program files". you're better off installing in "C:\User\documents\rpgmaker\" or something similar. Having it installed in the program files directory means windows is going to ask for permission every time before modifying anything; and with some programs, it won't allow it at all.

That is, if running it in compatibility mode doesn't work.

Your First Game

my first game was on RPGMaker 95, a game called "Temple of the Druids". I didn't really have any plan on where I wanted the game to go at all, and the game, honestly, sucked. It was lost one day when my parent's computer's hard drive went kaput. I wish there was some way I could find a copy of it, because I know I at one point in time uploaded it somewhere on the internet. But alas, it will probably never happen.

Game Glitches Thread

in final fantasy 3 for the SNES, go to the veldt, and have Gau leap. Then after a few battles and he makes his appearance again, have Relm 'sketch' Gau. You'll probably want Relm in some Running Shoes or whatever other relics you can gear her up with to make her act as quickly as possible, before gau can re-join your party.

If you manage to 'sketch' him successfully, the game will trip out for a sec, and you'll suddenly end up with a whole SLEW of items, multiples of them, and as far as I can tell, completely at random. I ended up with multiple economizers, gemboxes, and genji gloves before... but also 99 dirks, and other useless items. Pretty interesting.

Not sure if this glitch works on any re-released version of the game, but on the SNES cartridge, this was always fun to do.

Paradise Blue

Fucking WELL deserved feature. This game is still keeping me busy... very very cool.

Copy and pasting commands in Rm2k3 leads to insane slowdown

you may want to look at how efficient your coding is. Maybe its just me, but I always find a way to make my coding much more efficient the second time around.

That's a neat idea. Better rewards for more efficient playing. Might lead to the game being too easy for people that are already good, though.

Not necessarily. Perhaps it will just be way too hard for people who already suck at playing.
But in that case, there's always room to improve.
