Update #7: Introducing Toadiko

author=Wano
Nice ! Great !

But some remarks on the video :

- Interaction with toadiko in the house : the camera is a little moving before and after the interaction. If you want to make that kind of effect, maybe you should move the camera lower. Actually this just look like a bug...!
- On battle, why are you using the opening menu sound instead of the confirmation sound ? It's a little disturbing for me. xD

The camera ignores the bounding limitations I implemented when you talk to Toadiko so that it centers on her instead of on Mario or a screen relative position. Because they're standing close to the center of the room, it just looks like it moves slightly for no reason. It probably doesn't need to center on her, but I feel like I did it for a reason, ha

-Paper Mario sounds aren't labeled, so I had to go through about 1,200 sound effects to find what I needed. I might be "misusing" a few... I hope it's not too much of an issue.

Thanks for the feedback though. Hey, if you have the confirmation sound let me know.

Ahh I love this, great to see party members once again being used in the field and battle! I like the name too, any chance it was inspired by Toriko? lol

Ha, can't say she was inspired by Toriko... that would make for an interesting character though!

Super Mario RPG: The Starlite Worlds

You don't have to beat the secret bosses.

In previous games I've made, people have grinded exponentially and always wanted a bigger challenge. That's why I spent so much time with all the side bosses. Especially considering the game is beatable at 30-35. So it's just a choice.

Thanks, I found the passability error and the mistake with the Pirhana battle in Lonestar lands. They'll be fixed in the next update.

I'll look into discarding badges, but I'll admit it's unlikely since the game is already done. Though the badge system script is completely custom, it'd still require more change and work than udivision would probably want to do at this point. (This is C-Div writing.)

Yeah him. Just keep talking.

Super Mario RPG: The Starlite Worlds

In the arcade, the recipe lists and ore -> badge items tell you what mixes with what, and what ores make what badges.

@EdgeofChaos

I'm assuming you weren't able to get any of the "suit" badges then? There's someone that you can trade items to in order to get those badges. After Wuzzel Woods and before Mushroom Mountain, there's a map that has a monty mole who will make these trades.

For the Hammer! badges, you need a cactus punch to trade. I assume that was what matski was referring to eariler when he asked about making the cactus punch.

Super Mario RPG: The Starlite Worlds

Do you mean Cactus Punch?

You can mix a Cactus Fruit with a [Tasty Tonic, Super Soda, Able Juice, or Healthy Juicebox) to get a Cactus Punch.

Like in Paper Mario TTYD, the point of the Pit of 100 Trials is that you can't save. So it's a risk/reward thing.

The reward being 2x Experience badge is a good reward to me. Espeically considering the side bosses to train for.

Update #3: Audience & Stage Systems

author=outcry312
As long as the UI isn't blocked by the audience, it'll be a very nice addition!

The UI is actually on a layer above the audience, aside from a few things like HP bars and stuff tied to the fighters. Nothing too important.

Update #2: Your impression of M&L Paper Jam?

author=Chivi-chivik
I'm VERY HYPED for this game!
To be honest, I'm GLAD it's Paper Mario in Mario & Luigi and not the other way around. At least we'll have a good RPG, and not a probable disappointment like Sticker Star.
Also, I don't see this too farfetched: Mario & Luigi is known for having a new gameplay gimmick in every game (excluding the first because it was the first), so this time they just took Paper Mario as their gimmick. I'm 100% okay with that.

PD: Still looking forward to your fangame!! :D

True, they usually have a gimmick. I'm beginning to wonder if Sticker Star and Dream Team were made on the same console so that they could eventually crosss them over like this.

Well, I was happy about the inclusion of Paper Mario in a Mario & Luigi game. Love both series.
But I think your game will have to work as my Paper Mario fix.

I'm in the same boat; I don't have a 3DS :-/

I like the name. Paper Jam. Heh.

Agreed.

You just have to press Z when the shell is over the enemies sprite in any amount.

Are you waiting for the shell icon indicator to be over the enemy before pressing Z?
