RPG Maker Unite - New Engine

As a veteran user of both RM and Unity, I am less excited about Unite as a standalone maker (because I can just use regular RM), but more excited that it MIGHT allow me to use RM's wonderful eventing system in other Unity games.

Unity is definitely not as user friendly as RM especially if you want to make certain types of games, like a JRPG. With Unite, I see the potential of making an action RPG like Secret of Mana using Unity for the combat parts, but Unite for the roleplaying parts.

@watermark! Hey man it's Nick Neace, long time! How have you been?

@nneace Hey Nick! It was fun working on this game with you. You know despite its balancing issues, I think we did a pretty good job. Too bad they don't run IGMC anymore. Actually, been busy on our new Unity game Relentless now and taking a break from RM anyway so no IGMC may be a good thing. :)

Got a discord server now. Swing by!

Hi Watermark:
Can you make a guide of this game? and is good throught a bit hard
Hey, thanks for playing the game! It's been a while since I touched this. I probably don't have time to make a guide but if you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them. :)
just try making it pal

You know I just realized something. Click on the MEDIA tab. @thesacredlobo did an entire playthrough on this game. I remember it being quite entertaining as well as informative.

Merry Christmas! (and other assorted holidays)

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone! May your game making be even better in the coming year.

RMN Christmas Card 2020

You know for the longest time I couldn't figure out how to submit for the event. I was wondering: so do I submit an article? Or a resource? And then tag it with this event name? Is that it?

Then I noticed the submit button on the upper right. Oh.

New RPG Maker incoming?

Being a lifelong RM fan, of course I'm gonna get MZ...eventually. But, this time around, instead of snapping it up on day 1 like with MV, I might wait for the sale.

I really wanted to be excited about this. I mean it's the first new RM in years. Unfortunately, I'm just not, at least from what's shown so far.

The thing is, I think MV and Ace already does a perfect job if one wants to make a retro JRPG. I was hoping the new RM could do things these could not in a major way. A completely new tool for a different type of JRPG, and I can continue using Ace or MV for the more retro games. Maybe incorporate features from the new generation of JRPGs such as smart A.I. team members and animated busts. You know, still 2D focused but superpowered. And something that's not easily done with plug-ins. Heck, I don't think it even has Mode 7.

One good thing I'm hearing is that it will be more optimized than MV. So...it will have MV like features but run at Ace speed on multiple platforms? That would be a good feature.

Thoughts on the state of RPGmaker and it's community?

I've been using RM since RM2000. That's TWENTY YEARS. A freakin lifetime in ancient days. Wow. Astonishes even myself. And I can honestly say, I still love it.

Although I also use other engines such as Unity, RM will always have a special place in my heart, and I find myself going back to it from time to time. I imagine I will still be using RM even when I'm eighty and coming to this forum, assuming it still exists.

I think RM will live as long as those of us who went through the 16-bit era still lives. True, it might die with our generation, but I think we still got a few decades at least. This kind of pixel art gaming is what we grew up on. It is in a way, a love of our lives that will never disappear.

THERAPIST: Mind Manager

This looks really interesting!

Ugh, the thing is, that one particular celebrity jeopardy episode where the fake Sean Connery said "Therapist" ruined this word for me. Now whenever I see it I think of his version. >o<
