AEGIX_DRAKAN'S PROFILE

About me:

Pun loving Canadian, friendly neighbourhood "Ace", and Narrative Designer at Nine Dots Studios.

I've been a huge fan of RPGs (especially turn based ones) since I was young, and it warms my hearts to be able to make RPGs that other people can enjoy.

I thrive on crafting stories that others enjoy, as well as finely tuning combat to be challenging, but fair.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I've fallen down the hole of Deep Rock Galactic.

Send help, I'm turning into an angry space dwarf who loves rock and stone. ._.

Hello! Here are what I'm working on. It's a game that you are a dog and walk on a forest(like a dungeon). Don't have estory yet (I'm focus on the gameplay). There are puzzles and a simple action combat. And no name yet. That's it!

I think those maps could use a bit of tall grass here and there to help break up the monotone ground, but other than that, they look pretty nice! :)

The 'How You Doing' status

I am doing quite poorly, all things considered. :(

Hiding depressing stuff in case other people don't have the spoons for it:

Dad died 3 weeks ago of a random heart attack (and he was in pretty good shape too, so it was a terrible shock to the family), and just as some therapeutic RPGmakering was pulling me towards the light at the end of the tunnel of grief, and helping me find motivation to get up and actually DO things again...

The world was like "You know what you need? Existential dread and terror that you can do nothing about". Which is a doozy of a thing to deal with at the best of times, let alone while you're still processing grief.

If I did not absolutely love my day job, I would not be doing it. I would be curled up in my bed playing JRPGs and binge-watching winnie-the-pooh.

Like...After hearing how my dad died, I started trying to improve my diet and exercise more. But it's VERY hard for me to care about that right now. -_- So I'm stuffing my face with pasta and cookies and chamomile tea and hoping for the best tonight.

I'm going to keep on carrying on with my life and all that, but yeesh. Screw 2022 and the horse it rode in on. It seems like it's hell bent on screwing up everyone's lives, if the handful of posts of people having a rough time are any indication. :(

Sidebar: I'm serious that RPGmaker helped pull me out of the depression a little. Designing fun boss fights and seeing all those puzzle pieces come together to form a fun and engaging encounter lights up my brain and makes me smile.

After a whole lot of truly depressing IRL stuff happenned, I decided to replay one of my games, Glories Of The Hunt, hoping it would cheer me up a bit.

While replaying it, and falling in love with my combat system again, I thought "You know, why don't I go and add those 3 optional bosses I wanted to make when I first made this game?"

And almost overnight I managed to get the first of them done. And it turns out that RPGmaker combat design is actually really therapeutic for me. It managed to be the thing that finally rebooted my motivation.

Sooo, I'm now about half done adding the new optional bosses, and I'm really happy with the fun new fight mechanics I made for them.

Here's a pic of the first of the three new bosses, the Blue Maelstrom!

Bahahaha, yeah, that checks out. XD

Good luck and have fun with that large heap stuff you want to do. ;)

Usually I consider a game short if it can be beaten in under two hours or so.

That's a fair "short" length, yeah. :)

Given that most of my games run between 2-5 hours, and the fact you don't like playing as villains or people who become villains (And several of my games have anti-hero protagonists), there's only one other game I've made that might potentially be up your alley. XD

That being "The Heroes That Nobody Asked For" which is a goofy, silly parody game.

Seasons of RMN 5

I am tempted to participate...Especially given that the time frame is REAL generous.

Unfortunately, work is sapping a lot of my creative energy lately, and other IRL stuff has sapped the rest of my mental energy too. X_X

I will be cheering y'all on from the sidelines on this one. :) Good luck with your games!

To be fair, I mostly covered this game because I was looking for something short to Let's Play.

Ah. Well, that explains it! XD

How short is "short" to you? Out of curiosity?

Delusions of Duty Review

Wow, I am shocked to see another review for this game, my shortest and most experimental one.

Thank you for the review and the honestly pretty generous 3.5 stars for it! :)

The story was very short :)

Yup, very much a short story in game form, I'm sorry if you wanted more. XD

I have other games that have more stories in this game's tone/style that are more meaty, if that interests you. ;)
