AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at age 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic. I also appreciate cute and funny content.

I make a lot of pixel art and some digital art (concept, promo, fanart, etc.)
I also compose 8-bit music.

Don't be shy and send me a message if you want to commission my work ;)

I am setsuna

I don't know how far I am in (I just completed the cave east of Royburg).
Overall I think the game's average/fairly good so far.

-Character customization and battle strategies became fun enough after a few hours in.
-Progress is fairly fast.
-I find the premise very interesting, despite being predictable and that it sounded too much like FFX at first. I really want to know what will happen to/with Setsuna.

Some flaws in my eyes:
-Most playable characters, so far, are not very interesting.
-Enemies and bosses are too easy. I used less than 5 items so far and didn't bother with adding Flux to abilities. Buying accessories seems useless.
-Recipes were also useless to me so far. If you want to heal, just level up (levels rise really fast).
-While the setting is nice, it becomes redundant to look at more and more snow and penguins.

Progress update (or lack of) and what's up.

Let me know what you have in mind for that scene. I might be able to help.

Are these ideas ok

That is so similar to one of my many text form-only projects o_o

It sounds like you want to include a lot of things, so to cut down on the work it's a good idea to use ripped resources.

To answer the initial question: It's impossible to say whether any idea is good or not as long as it's not tangible, playable. Sometimes simple ideas make great games and complex, well thought-out ideas make bad games. Sometimes it's the other way around. We'll see if you can make it all work when we play it.

It sounds like an ambitious project but what matters is that you make the game you want to see being made.
So give it your best shot and have fun during the whole making process ;)

We understand :) The game's been super fun so far and you do a great job with the visuals. Take it easy!

High-variance roleplaying systems?

@Aubrey: To answer your last question, you can have a look at Roll20. I've never used it but I watch streams and it seems quite user-friendly.
I suppose you could use the character sheets and dice rolls along with a real tabletop game.

Dumbfounded, Roux takes the broken pieces of the lockpick Jane hands him.

"Sorry for making you worry, everyone. I tend to forget about my safety when I fight.
Now I agree that we should lock the guard up, but there's no harm in trying to pull some information out of him. He might reveal the name of his employer or something, I don't know..."

As I regain my strength, I feel pity for the guard who now seems to beg for his life.
Grateful for the others' help, I say a few words to each of them:

@Chadwick: Thank you for your help, sir Chadwick! Without everyone's healing skills the enemies would have got the best of me. Rest assured that you can count on my help as well!

@Micah: Master mage! I can see that your magic is powerful and very helpful! Forgive me for not having introduced myself properly earlier. I'm Roux, an adventurer. Your skills will definitely come in handy if we are to try and escape from here. I hope that I, we, can count on you as much as you can count on us!

@Jane: And Jane, uh... T-Thank you for your help earlier.

My fear of Jane slightly lessens, enough for me to trust her when it comes to helping us escape. I still keep my distances though.

I look back at the guard and try to interrogate him.

@Guard: Tell us, who are you? And why were we locked in here?

As I ask those questions, I make some gestures to help him understand my language: I point to us and to the cells.

(Pike Guard: "And that's not even my final form!" XP)

I writhe in pain as my blood pours on the floor. I look at the guard; he seems weakened and not so full of confidence anymore. He might not be able to pull that trick a second time.

Feeling that I might lose consciousness soon, I painstakingly stand up and try to attack the guard one last time.
