AVEE'S PROFILE

I started to design games at age 5, drawing maps and sprites with felt pens and paper. Then I began writing stories and game scenarios. I've been working with Rpg Maker 2000 and 2003 mostly, as soon as they came out.
I favor RPGs, Action RPGs and Fighting games. My favorite styles are Fantasy, Horror and anything dark or gothic. I also appreciate cute and funny content.

I make a lot of pixel art and some digital art (concept, promo, fanart, etc.)
I also compose 8-bit music.

Don't be shy and send me a message if you want to commission my work ;)

Castlevania - Sonata in Red

I finally beat it.
The game is fairly long with lots of rooms to explore and items to find. There's a Boss Rush mode later on that can reward you with good equipment and there's one secret dungeon you can explore after you find a hidden room in the game's final area.
The game pays tribute to several details found in the post Symphony of the Night Castlevania titles.

Overall the game is enjoyable although I couldn't help but focus on several frustrating little things that come off as design mistakes:

-The Trade System is poorly executed: You can trade materials for specific equipment at Alexander's Shop. However, gathering the materials is a grind and depends on getting lucky with the enemy troops encountered and the drop rates. Some of the later items for trade also require several copies of the same materials, and some of the Boss-dropped materials can't be found again. I traded two of those for an early item and found myself incapable of getting the top tier armor later on, which turned out to require those rare materials as well. And last but not least, most of the weaker trade items can be found later on in the dungeons, so using the Trade Shop is often pointless anyway.

-The Level Up system forces you to grind and doesn't account for enemy strength: Every enemy troop gives 1 Exp and you gain one level per area once a specific threshold has been reached. Whether the randomly-selected enemy troops you face are weak or strong, you still get 1 Exp per fight. As you progress further into the castle, you're likely to fully explore areas without beating the required amount of enemies to level up, and so you'll be forced to grind near a Save Room if you want to become stronger. The grinding becomes a little less tedious once you find decent Damage All abilities though.

-The Orb Spells seem generally less effective than Sub Weapons and Potions, especially in the later parts of the game, and they are likely to be useful against bosses only because enemy troops are random. Only the Master Orb, allowing you to use every Orb Spells, can fix this issue but it is made available too late in the game to be of any use.

There's also a game breaking glitch that will force you to reset the game: If you go down a flight of stairs by walking onto the uppermost tile of said stairs, you may get stuck in a wall tile at the bottom of the stairs.

A Halloween Horror

Thanks Liberty!

I don't know if Irog is still online at this hour though... I can't submit the game to the event, so I'll post the link in this message:

A Halloween Horror

Libby, our download is up. Can you add it and our team, please?

A Halloween Horror

Why not end the event at midnight on the 31st? I think that many of us could use the extra Sunday to polish or finish our submissions.

Babymetal is the weirdest metal band I ever seen/heard.

You have never heard bethlehem xD. After you hear them you will see babymetal as something completely normal. I recommend you bethlehem and silencer xD

How are his vocal chords not in bleeding bits and pieces? That song is seriously brutal...

I looked them up quickly. Their latest album sounds more tame... It's probably more to my liking than their earlier works :P

Aw. I liked LadyBaby. Something about the collision between big burly man and cute sweet girls was hilariously cute. The fact he didn't mind donning a dress and dancing cutely, and that the girls didn't mind rocking out made it so much cute/fun.

Ladybaby are a perfect blend of cuteness, brutality, hilarity and mindless enjoyment. They had something unique that I haven't seen in any other idol band yet. Ladybeard (AKA Rick Magarey) also seems to be a really nice and outgoing person. One of the funnier videos I've seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MOCe_VydOQ

The fan theory behind the disbandment is that the production or management had signed an unfair contract with Ladybeard (that seems pretty common in the Japanese idol industry, unfortunately). He's not allowed to give details about the situation yet but he said he has lots of projects coming up and definitely won't put an end to his career as a cross-dressing/metal singer entertainer.

As for Rei and Rie, their producers apparently formed a new band with the two of them... I think they are talented singers but I'm not sure how they'll manage to offer something unique now that Ladybeard is gone. The Japanese music scene is already saturated with idol groups.

...Regarding Babymetal, their worldwide success keeps surprising even their producers.
Recently they soldout Wembley Arena, London (12,000+ capacity),
are the first Japanese artists in over 50 years to make it in the Top 40 in the US Billboard,
they performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,

and performed with Judas Priest's Rob Halford at the APMA awards.

Suzuka (Su-Metal) looked like she had a hell of a good time, enjoying the performance like an overexcited little girl. And Yui and Moa playing the guitar (even if for the most part they airplayed/weren't audible) was something new and unexpected for the fans. My mind was blown away when I watched the live stream :)

Yeah, I'm a pretty hardcore BM fan at this point :P

So i finished Dead Island and i have a question (spoilers)

I haven't played the game but I think you answered the question yourself: Sometimes lots of horrible things happen for no apparent reason, and sometimes we don't understand what's going on. Life can be like that.

We need to talk about the fan games here after what happened to the Metroid 2 Project

I just finished AM2R for the first time.
4:47 hours on Normal, 77% items collected.
I didn't bother trying most of the crazier Speed Booster puzzles :P

The game is worthy of standing among the best 2D entries in the series; it gets everything right. I'd say it's one of the most impressive fan games ever made.

Nintendo should license it if they are smart (...and got the balls). Sending a DMCA after the full game was released obviously shows that they respect the game and don't mind people playing it. They only did it to save face in front of their greedy, ignorant shareholders.

People should keep making fan games. Optimistically speaking and judging from the many examples we've seen of companies supporting fan-made work, the times may be changing. And change doesn't happen when you don't press for it.

Babymetal is the weirdest metal band I ever seen/heard.

Babymetal isn't the weirdest Japanese metal band around (Ladybaby, Deathrabbits, Fruitpochette, BiSH, Passcode, etc.) but it's the best and most successful of them.

By the way, it's unfortunate that Ladybaby disbanded recently. I'm not a huge fan of death growls but their live shows were crazy fun.

I am setsuna

The only things that feel like CT to me are the combined attacks and the positions of battlers with the ATB.
Everything else from character customization to the world and story is different enough from CT to make me forget that Setsuna is
inspired by CT.

From what I've played so far, I think that CT is a much better game.
