R.I.P. RPG Revolution
author=KaliestoThis place is more lively than the majority. It'll be the last flame to flicker out, I'd wager.
I guess things don't last forever, and this site will probably disappear into the darkness from whence it came, but another site will take it's place, and continue the legacy.
Gedday fellas, I'm here to stay for now!
author=facesforceI doubt that would have been me, I was very reclusive back then and made a total of three textures, which looked like broken textures. My only successful texture was a black bat.
Aha, welcome to Rmn. I remember you from about 5 years back or so, you came out with some custom textures for Neverwinter at that time, right? XD Well, glad to have you on board.
What I was good at were compiling the music oriented paks. That's something I got the hang of pretty fast.
I made a few neat little scripts though, nothing big, but just enough so that messing with RGSS2/RGSS3 wasn't much of a chore.
author=facesforceThat's likely, soon as I came along it was straight into VX! Didn't have any of that vanilla rpgmaker experience so MS word and especially the NWN toolset get to be the programs to fill that niche.
It seems you have the same relationship with it as I do with rpg maker 95. XD
What are you jamming to?

The next RPG Maker
They made a new thing it was called Action Game maker (IindieGameMaker in the west) and it was suuuuuck!
I'm not sure they will make another one. Introducing a new generation means a whole new bunch of hassles, unless they make it easy to convert to the newest one. (Recycle a Ruby Game scripting system language) but I dunno, it's gonna be hard to beat Ace now, and Ace is still selling copies like wildfire.
As for 3D, there's been only one engine that simplifies that a little, (Platinum Arts sandbox) and it's not real 3d, it's 2.5D like Heretic, Doom and those older games, it's stunning looking 2.5D dont get me wrong, but it's not realtime 3D, doing any sort of real 3D requires programming knowledge of a sort, and a lot of work. I don't think it's something you can just make a 'maker' for.
The Neverwinter Nights toolsets are also pretty good if you're willing to check out a few tutorials, but the logic is hardcoded in, so it's dice-rolls or eye lulls at every turn.
Also Importing anything in those engines i mentioned is an absolute choir, it's not a simple case of drag and drop files.
I think a 3D "hold your hand" game maker would be cool, but I can't see it happening due to technical issues.

author=SnowOwlMY POSTS WILL BLOT OUT THE SUN.
Cool, I used to make really shitty stuff in Neverwinter nights, too. Probably what got me into making games in the first place.
I'd say welcome but I seem to be a bit late since you're pretty much in every part of the forum already.
Well, it's the thought that counts, so thanks!
Also yeah, I made like a 12 hour game in the toolset, but then my computer went and shat the bed and I lost those files in the transferal process.
The conversion to RPGmaker after that was refreshing "OH, CUSTOM MUSIC NEED ONLY BE DROPPED IN THE BGM FOLDER OF A PROJECT, THEN CALLED BY A SIMPLE COMMAND?" I would say, clearly in disbelief only to find it was so.
I still boot up the old toolset every now and then for Nostalgia's sake.
I also use it to make outfits for characters sometimes. One of the most extensive armor appearance editors I've seen. Then the modding community just adds on a whole bunch to what's there already.
R.I.P. RPG Revolution
I was checking how it was on there out of curiosity and yeah, it didn't need iEntry, was already dead as a doorstop, Kaz responded to me and from what i hear the site's been dormant since 2012, a husk rotting in cyberspace-- soon to be completely void. Forgotten in the fire.
I can see VX.net sharing a similar fate pretty soon. I've been all that's been keeping it even semi-active. But even I have limits.
Also, hello Amerk, good to see you old friend!

Have you learned English while developing games on RM?
I've always loved English, but I'd be lying if I didn't say making games has improved my writing abilities tremendously. I go back to older games I've made and cringe at the dialogue, then I got back to more recent things and I giggle like a school girl, it's like this little miracle that happens in my heart.
Intelligence's writing was excusable, Terra and Planet's Cry though, oh god! Just, don't put any effort into looking for those games, they are shamefully bad!
Perseverance is definitely host to some of my best writing so far, without choking on its own word-weight.
I can tell my writing from two years ago near instantly because it stands out as 'not fluid enough'.
I'll also say my ventures in several different forums has also helped out. Whenever I see a word I don't know I check up what it means on dictionary.com, and this has been how I've taught myself words (beyond application and revision) for 80% of my massive vocabulary.

author=JJJ7Gotcha covered! :3
Welcome to RMN!
Be productive, not like me.
author=Gourd_ClaeGood to see some fresh eyes now and then! I'm sure we'll get along just fine, I'm in the irc currently, if anyone wants to get to know me or stuff!
Welcome back! I don't know you, but you seem cool!
For those who just wanna soak me in here, well, I like drawing, designing fun charming games and I also am up for a review now and then! I'm commonly lauded as an eventing god where really I'm just not afraid to experiment! When I was younger I had multiple interests, construction, architecture, planets, making models and making stuffed toys, I also really like the english language despite it being one of the biggest mongrels of a language there is!
All these interests would eventually lend themselves to game design, I've been playing games since 8 years old (1996) and making them since 16 (2004), at first I only knew of MS word, so I made table-top RPG's not too far from the vain of Dungeons and Dragons, then I got a copy of Neverwinter Nights and started using its creation toolset through to 2008, which is when my bro alerted me to the existence of RPG Maker, and I've been using it for six years, I've also dabbled a little in game maker.
Whew! I think that about sums me up! I've won a few awards here and there which I'm fairly proud of, it's quite likely I'll participate in contests you have here, I find them a lot of fun, now!
Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!
author=CrystalgateOh man, I remember when I was trying to hide all stats but HP, MP, ATK and MAT in a game in Ace, I couldn't do it for the life of me.
Fixed most of the status screen. Luck is no longer displayed, but Hitrate and Evasion is. Doing this on VX ace took way longer than doing something similar on VX.
Currently, I'm revising the currently disappointing ending in Menagerie to ready it for Menagerie: Remastered.
