Hero's Realm: Heroic Edition

I feel like you've officially joined me on the path of the sell-out. Excellent.

Ask Mint

The problem is that I've got to replace multiple different face graphics with multiple posts, so it's just going to be time-consuming to upload all those pictures. I'll probably swap this to "dev only," so I won't actually delete this page. Maybe if I've got some spare time I'll fix it up--it might go faster than I expect with that method, Malandy, and I kind of hate to take this page down.

Also, thanks, Marrend. Photobucket is STUPID indeed.

What are you thinking about right now?

I think that's only for the sugar-free ones. Whatever sugar substitute they're using causes explosive diarrhea because actually eating the gummi bears wasn't part of the testing process I guess.

Edit: Otherwise haribo gummi bears are delicious and I imagine the sour ones are super delicious.

Photobucket, what...??

Yeah, I noticed this yesterday. It's fucking terrible. I had to go back and reupload several images for gamepages onto an old imgur account that's been hibernating forever. There are still a lot of images that appeared on blogs and whatnot that I don't have the time or patience to fix, so anyone that's digging through the archives of some of my games is going to run into that tacky Photobucket picture.

I guess adblock and better image hosting services have depleted Photobucket's revenue stream and now they have to extort people who have been using their service out of laziness for years in order to stay afloat for another year or two.

Ask Mint

Yeah, Photobucket is now a useless service that just exists so that you can share a virtual album with people or you can let them extort you into allowing you to actually use your pictures.

Ask Mint

Since Photobucket decided to jump from "greasy thug" to "comically evil super villain," I'm going to lock Ask Mint rather than going through the trouble of editing back all of those face graphics. This hasn't really gotten much traffic lately, so I don't think this will be a major issue, but if Photobucket changes their third party hosting policy, then I'll open this back up for comments.

Edit: On second thought, I'm going to leave this open for a week or so then I'll switch it to "dev only" since it's such an eyesore. If anybody has a better course of action, let me know.

Party members with differing political/faction views?

I agree with LockeZ for the most part. Having party members with different political ideologies is great if world politics is a focal point of the plot, and it's definitely something you can use to color characters.

When writing, though, keep in mind that you're balancing depth and concision. If you want to include politics, that's fine, but there are lots of things that can define characters--religion, career, upbringing, etc. You're not obligated to bring any one particular aspect of their lives into the writing, as a large amount of unnecessary details can weigh down your script, but if having conflicting political ideology feeds into the overall narrative, then, yeah, you should definitely include that.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

You can't! Your minor mistake will forever be memorialized here!

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

There's nothing like that in the demo; there are a few horror levels in the demo, but they're both optional. The mandatory parts of the demo tend to be lighthearted. Also, I tend to be more of a fan of a slow build of dread rather than jump scares. I'm still designing the bulk of the horror content, though, so I'm not going to say that there won't be any jump scares in the full version, but I'm going to try to avoid anything that feels cheap for sure.

Born Under the Rain

I'm pretty busy with Jimmy right now, but I think it would be fun to make a treasure-hunting game as pre-mummy Masud, where he's a full-on unrepentant thief. Possibly have a frame story set after the events of the original and have some story elements tied at least thematically to what would basically be a prequel. Again, I've got like a year of dev left on Jimmy, but it might be something worth mulling over if that sounds like a fun concept.
