[Poll] What is your favorite Final Fantasy game?

@Desertopa: From another person with a writing background, I agree about FF7. That's also my favorite.

My top three are FF7, FF6, and FF9. I'll actually defend 7's gameplay a bit. You can say that the battles are pretty simplistic, which is fine, but the materia system is a pretty interesting progression system, which, along with exploration (which it also did a good job with), is my favorite part of RPG gameplay. 6 has adequate writing but a sweet progression system and the second half of the game is so structurally cool that it gets some bonus points for me. 9 is just really well-polished, but the final act was a bit garbled and the exploration, battles, and progression are serviceable but don't really stand out. I love all three, though.

I also really enjoyed 5 despite its flaws, and Tactics is really solid, but I'm not the biggest fan of tactical RPGs (mainly because battles take so long and there's not much exploration). Not a huge fan of the other Final Fantasies. 4's okay but it's a product of its time; same with the NES ones. 8 and 10 killed the franchise for me; haven't played anything past 10, but I've seen enough to know they aren't for me. 15 did look kind of interesting, though (and really beautiful graphically).

Trailer Release

Thanks for cleaning those posts up, Kentona.

@Cap: I originally was going to shoot for a shorter time, but the track I wanted to use sort of necessitated it. I noticed that a lot of other trailers for games and movies were clocking in around two minutes, though, so I figured I didn't totally overstep my bounds.

Trailer Release

@robb: Thanks! The ending was important for me to get down right, so I'm glad it hit its mark. Jimmy's kind of a strange game, tonally.

Also, I went ahead and added the trailer as media. I feel like I skipped protocol by not doing that, haha.

Edit: RMN was acting wonky and I accidentally triple posted. I really wish I could delete posts to hide my shame.

Trailer Release

@Sarge: Thanks, man, that's a hell of a compliment!

@StayAwakeGames: Right on.

Trailer Release

Thanks, ya'll! I'm glad the trailer is getting everyone hyped!

@Visitors: Thanks; this was the first time I edited a video, so I figured I should play to my strengths using music instead of relying on editing tricks. Glad it worked out!

What are you thinking about right now?

EDIT: Also I read somewhere that a lot of the statues are actually mass produced garbage. So it's probably okay to destroy most of those.

EDIT2: https://twitter.com/taber/status/897292040790323201 is where I read it. Quite interesting.

Man, I was having a conversation with my roommate about this and posited this possibility. I knew that confederate statues came up after the confederates lost (because who makes statues during the middle of a war), so I said something along the lines of, "I bet these statues were mass produced and sold to racist city councils by a huckster." So, I thought I would look this stuff up after seeing this post, Shinan, and thought I'd share a few points:

1) The statue that got knocked down was actually in Durham, NC. The Lee statue in Charleston is actually not mass-produced and will probably be preserved.

2) The statue that got knocked down is indeed mass produced. Here's some info on it: http://docsouth.unc.edu/commland/monument/118/

3) LockeZ, if you're interested in preserving art, you can find an identical statue here, here, or here, for example.

4) These statues, and many others, were commissioned by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in the early twentieth century. This group pushed that old "the civil war was for states rights" mantra that all the brainwashed dipshits back in my hometown still say.

So, yeah, I agree that statues shouldn't be torn down like that (if anything, it's bad PR to see a bunch of people looking like anarchists, and that would distract from the terrible PR the other side is getting now). I'd prefer that we actually discuss the gross history of these statues as a country and preserve a couple of them, melt down the rest and convert that into art of another form--like the freed slave statue Roden (good to see you back, by the way) suggested. But, like, this statue wasn't a big loss.

August Update

What do you mean by Steam campaign? You do know that Steam Greenlight has been replaced with a new system called Steam Direct, right?

I knew that was happening, but I didn't if they'd gone through with that already. You can still, like, set up a page and upload a demo prior to launching, right? I haven't looked into the specifics yet because I'm a rube.

Edit: @SgtMettool: I've actually done better on Tumblr than on Twitter; Jimmy has a few horror elements and draws a bit from Yume Nikki in terms of setting, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Wow, I had no idea! I'm feeling oddly patriotic now.

We don't actually have a local library

My God, man. How do you not have a LIBRARY?

The Hells are alive with the sound of music

Yeah, bringing the harp down a bit will work as well; the important thing is the difference between the dynamics. Like I said, though, I'd just tinker with that one, as the mixing is pretty close to where it should be.
