The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)
Looking slightly puzzled I turn towards Razuna and, trying to keep my voice down, I say: "Wait a second, did I hear that right? You're a half-elf, you just told us you that you are a thief just like that, you have a white raven as a pet and his name is Gourd?! ...Well, that's not conspicuous at all...
Whatever, as long as you do your job well down in that tomb, I won't complain - but don't try anything funny, you hear me? We can't afford to get in trouble with the townsfolk now. And believe me, I've shot my share of bandits since I started working as a mercenary, so you better watch it.
Oh, by the way, here's what I had in mind we absolutely need when descending into that tomb: Obviously, first of all, more and better weapons. Then we should also find enough food and drink, and some medical supplies and bandages in case anyone gets injured. We definitely need a long rope, preferably with an attachable hook, a shovel, torches, equipment for lockpicking, and of course some sacks to put the treasure in. What do you think, did I forget something?"
-------
P.S. @wildwes: Don't worry too much about whether you're causing trouble. You're just playing your character, after all - that's why it's a role-playing game. :)

"You know, I still have no idea why that child is even with us. He'll only get himself in danger and slow us down, if you ask me.
Anyway, I agree with going to the weapons shop first. You can never have enough crossbow bolts."
Without even looking at Zuko I add:
"By the way: Cut the crap, demon. I'm not a "girl", I'm 21, just so you know. And I'm not interested, so you keep your nonsense to yourself. We have an objective to focus on, in case you've forgotten."

how can i add a state when another state goes away
Hm, you sure ask for help a lot. May I suggest you explain what exactly you want more precisely? Describe what RPG Maker you are using, what you want these states to do, under what conditions they should appear and disappear etc.
Anyway, I might be able to give you an option on how to do this, but it depends on what kinds of states you're talking about. If they are states that wear off over time (that is, they disappear after a few turns), I know how to do it. If they are states that are removed by attacks or certain skills, it might be more difficult.

@Ilan, I suggest we don't take any definitive actions until every team member has posted at least once. It's fairer that way and we're less prone to making stupid mistakes if we decide important stuff together. Five heads think more than one, after all.
That said, I'm totally fine with going to the weapons and armour shop after everyone has introduced themselves. The more weapons we have, the better. (That last sentence is just Kairy's opinion, not mine.)

how can i make a common event trigger for only the user of a skill
The Highlander's Tomb (Team Forum RPG)
Finally! Let's do this!
Oh, ehm, okay... Time to play in-character.
-------------
"Well, that Contractor guy is kind of a chump, don't you think?" Having said that, I look around the circle standing in front of me. "Anyway, I guess we should properly introduce ourselves. I have no idea who you are and what abilities qualify you for this task. If we want to be successful, we have to know each other's strengths.
Like I said, I'm Kairy Quivan. My profession is that of a mercenary and," taking a huge and dangerous-looking crossbow from my back, "this is my weapon of choice. Ranged weapons are superior to melee ones, believe me. One day, everybody will only be using those any more, trust me.
Right, I digress. So. You know who I am. Who exactly are you? And can someone explain to me what that little kid is doing here?
We should also make a list of things we absolutely need when we're going to investigate that tomb. What? No, I'm not making it. I... I don't write, okay?!"

Pokémon RMN Version

Maybe we should have a poll? :D
Good idea! Though, that should probably wait until all Pokémon have at least one sprite. Otherwise, the Pokémon that have no graphic yet are clearly in a disadvantageous position.

All totally valid points. Although I still think the XP RTP character graphics look way better than the blocky VX Ace ones, I immediately acknowledge VX Ace is superior in many respects. But by now I'm just so used to XP...
However, I don't really have a problem with the battle system settings since I haven't used the default battle system in years. The greatest advantage of creating your own battle system from scratch is that you have control over everything.
Edit: I resist your dark tempation, Ilan! Go back into the shadows! You shall not pass!

Good luck, outcry312 and karins_soulkeeper! You can do it!
I'm actually making some decent progress with my battle system. Yeah, I'm a bit surprised myself, especially considering it's all on-map and almost entirely event-based. I must have at least 500 variables in use so far. It's probably not going to look stunning graphics-wise, but hopefully it will at least be interesting enough to qualify for the contest.
Also, isn't it funny how every team uses RPG Maker VX ACE - except me? Am I not mainstream enough for this contest? ;)

OK, so I can comment now, right?
Hey, it's Gourdy! Welcome to the team! I like your character.
Though this is going to be interesting since my character and my real self have almost nothing in common... She'll probably just be like "What? I have to be a babysitter now?!"
Also, thanks for the skills, seiromem, they are great. Just to make sure, the Zip Shot ability makes my bolts fly faster, right? And, uh... what is a "Welken"?
